THE INDIANA COMMUNITY ACTION ASSOCIATION (IN-CAA) WORKS TO STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF INDIANA'S COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCIES TO ADDRESS COMMUNITY NEEDS AND POVERTY.

RURAL COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (RCAP) - RCAP TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDERS ASSISTED TOWNS, CONSERVANCY DISTRICTS, REGIONAL SEWER DISTRICTS, WATER AUTHORITIES, AND UNINCORPORATED AREAS FACING WATER AND WASTEWATER CHALLENGES. RCAP ASSISTED THESE ENTITIES WITH LEVERAGING GRANTS AND LOW-INTEREST LOANS TO FUND PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION OF UPGRADES, RENOVATIONS, AND NEW TREATMENT SYSTEMS. ASSISTANCE WAS ALSO PROVIDED IN THE FORM OF ON-SITE TRAINING OF UTILITY BOARDS AND CLERKS ON MANAGERIAL AND FINANCIAL ISSUES, AND REPORTING TO FEDERAL AND STATE AGENCIES. UNDER THE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT GRANT, RCAP PROVIDED ON-SITE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO SOLID WASTE DISTRICTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. (SEE SCHEDULE O)INDIANA TRAINING INSTITUTE (ITI): COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCIES IN INDIANA WERE ABLE TO BENEFIT FROM THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE INDIANA TRAINING INSTITUTE (ITI) WITH CSBG FUNDING RECEIVED FROM THE INDIANA HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY. ITI PROVIDED TRADITIONAL TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH CSBG FUNDING. INDIANA INSTITUTE FOR WORKING FAMILIES (IIWF) - THE IIWF CONDUCTS RESEARCH AND PROMOTES PUBLIC POLICIES TO HELP HOOSIER FAMILIES ACHIEVE AND MAINTAIN ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY. THE IIWF WAS FOUNDED IN 2004 AND IS THE ONLY STATEWIDE PROGRAM IN INDIANA THAT COMBINES RESEARCH AND POLICY ANALYSIS REGARDING FEDERAL AND STATE POLICIES AND PROGRAMS WITH EDUCATION AND OUTREACH. THE IIWF HAS BECOME A RELIABLE SOURCE FOR INFORMATION ON LOW-INCOME WORKERS IN INDIANA; FURTHERING THE DEBATE THAT SOMETIMES WORK ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH TO SUPPORT A FAMILY.WEATHERIZATION TRAINING CENTER (WTC) THE IN-CAA WEATHERIZATION TRAINING CENTER (WTC) AND THE INDIANA WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM WERE BOTH WELL RECOGNIZED ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL. THE IN-CAA WTC IS ACCREDITED BY THE INTERSTATE RENEWABLE ENERGY COUNCIL (IREC) AS A TRAINING CENTER TO PROVIDE SERVICES FOR PROFESSIONALS IN THE AREA OF: ENERGY AUDITOR - QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR - CREW LEADER & RETROFIT INSTALLER. THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY REQUIRES TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION BY AN IREC-ACCREDITED PROGRAM.


AS THE MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION OF COMMUNITY ACTION ASSOCIATIONS ACROSS INDIANA, THE ORGANIZATION ACTS AS THE RECIPIENT AND ADMINISTRATOR OF THE UTILITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS.
