LHDC IS THE DESIGNATED COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY FOR CRAWFORD, PERRY, AND SPENCER COUNTIES, LHDC EXISTS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE. IN ADDITION TO CRAWFORD, PERRY, AND SPENCER COUNTIES, LHDC ALSO OFFERS SERVICES IN DUBOIS, GIBSON, HARRISON, LAWRENCE, ORANGE, VANDERBURGH, AND WARRICK COUNTIES.

DURING 2021, THE HEAD START BIRTH TO 5 PROGRAM PROVIDED COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION, MEDICAL, NUTRITION, HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES FOR A FUNDED ENROLLMENT OF 371 PRESCHOOL CHILDREN SERVED THROUGH 15 CLASS SESSIONS LOCATED IN SEVEN CENTERS THROUGHOUT CRAWFORD, HARRISON, PERRY, AND SPENCER COUNTIES.
DURING 2021, 31 FAMILIES IN CRAWFORD, PERRY AND SPENCER COUNTIES RECEIVED HOME WEATHERIZATION SERVICES. ALL HOMES RECEIVED BASIC ENERGY CONSERVATION SERVICES WHICH REDUCES LONG TERM ENERGY BILLS. IN THE ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, 1,321 LOW INCOME DISABLED AND ELDERLY HOUSEHOLDS (2,275 INDIVIDUALS) RECEIVED ASSISTANCE IN PAYMENT OF THEIR WINTER HEATING BILLS; 8 OWNER OCCUPIED AND AT-RISK HOUSEHOLDS HAD HEAT RESTORED THROUGH A REPAIR OR FULL REPLACEMENT.
DURING 2021, THE STATE SECTION 8 PROGRAM PROVIDED HOUSING ASSISTANCE PAYMENTS TO 255 FAMILIES IN CRAWFORD, GIBSON, SPENCER, VANDERBURGH AND WARRICK COUNTIES.
THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVES FUNDING FROM VARIOUS AGENCIES TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO LOW INCOME, ELDERLY, AND HANDICAPPED INDIVIDUALS.
