AT THE END OF THE 2021 TAX YEAR, THE KILLBUCK WATERSHED LAND TRUST HELD A TOTAL OF 68 EASEMENTS TOTALING 8,461.14 ACRES. OF THE 68 EASEMENTS HELD, TWO PROPERTIES WERE OWNED BY THE ORGANIZATION: A PROPERTY OF 120 ACRES AND A PROPERTY OF 27 ACRES. THREE EASEMENTS WERE PURCHASE OF DEVELOPMENT RIGHTS (PDR) PROGRAM EASEMENTS HELD WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE TOTALING 443 ACRES. DURING THE 2021 TAX YEAR, FOUR NEW EASEMENTS VALUED AT $750,000 WERE RECEIVED. NONE OF THE EASEMENTS WHICH ARE CURRENTLY HELD BY THE ORGANIZATION FALL INTO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES: ENCUMBERMENT OF A GOLF COURSE; WITHIN OR ADJACENT TO RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT OR HOUSING SUBDIVISIONS; ACQUIRED UNDER PURCHASE OF REAL PROPERTY FROM CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION IN NOTICE 2004-41. ALL 68 CURRENT EASEMENTS WERE PERIODICALLY REVIEWED AND MONITORED BY VARIOUS BOARD MEMBERS. BOARD MEMBERS SPEND AN AVERAGE OF ONE HOUR ON A VOLUNTEER BASIS PER EASEMENT FOR MONITORING NEW AND EXISTING EASEMENTS. NO ADDITIONAL EXPENSES WERE INCURRED BY THE ORGANIZATION FOR THE MONITORING AND ENFORCING NEW OR CURRENT EASEMENTS.
MAINTAIN OVER 120 ACRES OF WOODS AND NATIVE PRAIRIE IN HOLMES COUNTY AND 27 ACRES OF WETLANDS IN HOLMES COUNTY IN ORDER TO PRESERVE THESE PROPERTIES AND TO PROTECT SEVERAL ENDANGERED, THREATENED AND RARE PLANT AND BIRD SPECIES. THE PROTECTED WETLANDS ARE PART OF THE KILLBUCK CREEK WATERSHED.
