THIS PROJECT FOCUSED ON PROMOTING PUBLIC AWARENESS OF ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES RELATED TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN MAINLAND CHINA AND ENCOURAGING ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION THROUGH VARIOUS MEANS SUCH AS MULTIMEDIA PUBLICATIONS, MEDIA WORKSHOPS, AND ADVOCATING GREEN LIFESTYLES. IT COLLABORATED WITH THREE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO IMPLEMENT THE ECOLOGICAL FAMILY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT, WHICH INCLUDED CREATING EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, PRODUCING ANIMATIONS, ESTABLISHING AN ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM, AND FOUNDING THE LEHE ECOLOGICAL CULTURE AND EDUCATION INSTITUTE. THE PROJECT ALSO FACILITATED DIALOGUES, LECTURES, AND LIVE BROADCASTS ON ECOLOGICAL CIVILIZATION AND ORGANIZED OFFLINE ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE ECOLOGICAL FAMILY CONSTRUCTION.

THE PROJECT AIMS TO ENHANCE URBAN CLIMATE RESILIENCE BY TRANSFORMING UNDERUTILIZED PAVED PARKING LOTS INTO GREEN SPACES USING NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS. RESEARCHERS AT VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY ASSESSED THE URBAN HEAT EFFECT OF PAVED PARKING LOTS IN SEVERAL CITIES, ANALYZED OCCUPANCY RATES, AND MODELED VARIOUS GREENING SCENARIOS USING A 3D MICROCLIMATE MODEL. THIS STUDY INFORMS URBAN PLANNING AND LOCAL POLICY DECISIONS TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY AND CLIMATE MITIGATION THROUGH EVIDENCE-BASED INFRASTRUCTURE SOLUTIONS. IN ADDITION TO CLIMATE BENEFITS LIKE MITIGATING URBAN HEAT AND CARBON SEQUESTRATION, THE PROJECT ALSO AIMS TO IMPROVE LONG-TERM HEALTH AND QUALITY OF LIFE, PARTICULARLY IN LOW-INCOME AND COMMUNITIES OF COLOR.
