IN 2021 TOTAL LIVING CENTER HAS RENEWED HOPE AND PURPOSE. WITH THE ON BOARDING OF A NEW DIRECTOR IN MAY OF 2021 MANY THINGS HAVE BEEN GIVEN A RENEWED PURPOSE AND DRIVE. AFTER HANDLING THE EFFECTS OF COVID-19 THE NEW DIRECTOR BEN KARIUKI CAME ON WITH YOUTHFULNESS AND DRIVE TO TAKE TOTAL LIVING CENTER TO NEW HEIGHTS. HE HAS SINCE REESTABLISHED A VIBRANT VOLUNTEER BASE WITH A TOTAL OF 421 NEW VOLUNTEERS COMING THROUGH THE DOORS TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. THE GROCERY DISTRIBUTION CONTINUED AND SERVED 878 FAMILIES AND OUR MEAL PROGRAM SERVED 2,638 MEALS. WHAT HAS CREATED A SENSE OF RENEWED VISION AND PURPOSE HAS BEEN ESTABLISHING A MONTHLY OUTREACH TO MEET THE IMMEDIATE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY SUCH AS A TURKEY GIVEAWAY, HYGIENE GIVEAWAY, TOYS, BACKPACKS, AND MORE. THROUGH THESE OUTREACHES WE SAW A TOTAL OF 1,059 PEOPLE COME THROUGH THE DOORS TO BENEFIT AND GET THE CARE NEEDED. THE HAIR SALON WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE 74 HAIR CUTS AND THE LAUNDROMAT WASHED 584 LOADS OF LAUNDRY. TOTAL LIVING CENTER ALSO BEGAN TO CONNECT WITH LOCAL CHURCHES AND SCHOOLS WHO WERE LOOKING FOR SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD SUPPLY. WE HAVE SINCE ESTABLISHED CONNECTIONS WITH 8 LOCAL CHURCHES AND SCHOOLS IN WHICH WE DISTRIBUTE FOOD TO EITHER THEIR FOOD BANK, AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM, AND FAMILIES IN NEED. THROUGH THE VISION OF WHAT WE DO WE HELP TO MENTOR THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS THROUGH THE JOB AND FAMILY SERVICE WORK PROGRAM, JOG A HIGH SCHOOL MENTORSHIP PROGRAM AND COMMUNITY SERVICE. WE HAVE SEEN THAT THE INDIVIDUALS WHO PARTICIPATE IN THESE PROGRAMS HAVE RENEWED PURPOSE, FEEL BETTER ABOUT THEMSELVES, GIVE BACK, AND TRY TO GET THEIR LIVES IN A BETTER PLACE.
