THE CJN FOUNDATION IS AN INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATION THAT SUPPORTS THE MISSION OF THE CLEVELAND JEWISH NEWS. AT THE HEART OF THE FOUNDATION IS THE NEED TO PRESERVE, PROTECT AND KEEP OUR WORDS ALIVE FOR THE JEWISH COMMUNITY, NOW AND IN THE FUTURE THROUGH THREE SPECIFIC GOALS- PRESERVE THE JEWISH COMMUNITY HISTORY WITH THE CJN DIGITAL ARCHIVE, EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH PROGRAMS AND EVENTS, AND BUILD FOR THE FUTURE BY SUPPORTING THE CJN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM.

HISTORICAL ARCHIVING-CJNF DIGITAL ARCHIVES INCLUDE THE LAST 127 YEARS OF NORTHEAST OHIO JEWISH COMMUNITY NEWS, INCLUDING THE 52 YEARS OF THE CLEVELAND JEWISH NEWS PLUS THE 75 YEARS OF THE THREE PREDECESSOR JEWISH PAPERS, INCLUDING THE JEWISH INDEPENDENT, THE JEWISH REVIEW & OBSERVER AND DI YIDISHE VELT (THE JEWISH WORLD).DUE TO THE EXTREME FINANCIAL HARDSHIP CAUSED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED SOME GRANT FUNDS TO CJN IN 2021. THESE GRANTS WILL SUPPORT THE EDUCATIONAL EFFORTS OF THE FOUNDATION, PARTICULARLY AS THEY RELATE TO ISSUES OF LOCAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL NEWS OF JEWISH INTEREST FOR THE CITIZENS OF OHIO.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING-THE FOUNDATION HELPS FUND AND FACILITATE THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION. THE FOUNDATION HELPS SUPPORT THE TRAINING OF INTERNS FOR THE CLEVELAND JEWISH NEWS.
