THE YWCA OF WARREN IS DEDICATED TO ELIMINATING RACISM, EMPOWERING WOMEN, AND PROMOTING PEACE, JUSTICE, FREEDOM, AND DIGNITY FOR ALL.

YOUTH RECREATION AND ENRICHMENT. THE YWCA OF WARREN, IN COLLABORATION WITH WARREN CITY SCHOOLS, PROVIDES BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES K-5. WE PARTNER WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES, PROVIDING ELIGIBLE FAMILIES ASSISTANCE TO OBTAIN QUALITY, AFFORDABLE CARE IN OUR PROGRAM. IN 2012 SERVICES AT 2 SITES WERE CONSOLIDATED TO PROVIDE AFTER SCHOOL CARE AT THE YWCA WARREN, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE FACILITY'S CENTRAL LOCATION. 30 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM IN 2017. CAMP DISCOVER IS A SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES CHILDREN FROM ACROSS TRUMBULL COUNTY IN GRADES K-5 WITH A VARIETY OF SUMMER ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING SWIMMING LESSONS, FIELD TRIPS, SPEAKERS, AN ANNUAL TALENT SHOW, AND MANY MORE. THE YWCA WARREN IS A LICENSED CHILDCARE SITE THROUGH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF JOBS AND FAMILY SERVCICES, REQUIRING THE CAMP AND ALL CHILDCARE PROGRAMS TO MEET HIGH QULITY STANDARDS. 37 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN CAMP DISCOVER IN 2017.
GIRLS LEADERSHIP - IS AN AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM DESIGNED TO FOSTER STRONG LEADERSHIP SKILLS IN 9TH AND 10TH GRADE GIRLS THROUGHOUT TRUMBULL COUNTY, WE L.E.T. GIRLS BECOME TOMORROW'S LEADERS THROUGH LEADERSHIP AND GUIDANCE, EMPOWERMENT, AND TRANSFORMATION. GIRLS LEADERSHIP PROVIDES RESOURCES AND WORKSHOPS THAT INCREASE SELF-CONFIDENCE, EQUIP GIRLS WITH LEADERSHIP SKILLS THAT WILL GIVE THEM CONFIDENCE, IMPROVE FREINDSHIPS AND COMMUNICATIONS, INCREASE THEIR ACADEMIC SUCCESS, AND LEAVE THEM FEELING EMPOWERED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR OWN LIVES AND IN THEIR COMMUNITY. 7 INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM DURING 2017. YOUNG WOMENS LEADERSHIP BOARD, THE BOARD IS COMPRISED OF YOUNG WOMEN, AGES 21 TO 40, WHO COME FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS AND WILL ASSIST IN STRENGTHENING THE YWCA WARREN'S PROGRAMS AND SERVICES, COMMUNITY COLLABORATION, AND FUNDRAISING EFFORTS. GIRLS CAMP - THE YWCA OF WARREN, THROUGH A GRANT FROM THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION,PROVIDES A SUMMER CAMP FOR GIRLS AGES 11-14 AND IS AIMED TO ADDRESS THE LACKING EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH TO INCREASE THE GIRLS ABILITIES AND CHANCES OF FUTURE ACADEMIC SUCCESS, LEADING A MORE CONFIDENT, SELF-ASSURING, HEALTHIER SELF- IMAGE. 15 INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM DURING 2017.
WINGS (WOMEN INSPIRING, NUTURING, GAINING STRENGTH) - A PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROJECT FOR WOMEN WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR CHILDREN. APPLICATIONS FOR TENANTS BECAME AVAILABLE IN JULY 2014 AFTER CONSTRUCTION OF THE 2.1 MILLION BUILDING WAS COMPLETED. THE 12 FULLY FURNISHED UNITS WERE OCCUPIED DURING 2017.
ELIMINATING RACISM STAND AGAINST RACISM, THE STAND AGAINST RACISM IS A NATIONAL MOVEMENT BRINGING TOGETHER PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE PERPETUATION OF RACISM. THIS MOVEMENT IS CELEBRATED IN CITIES AND TOWNS ACROSS THE COUNTRY WITH AN ANNUAL EVENT ON THE LAST FRIDAY IN APRIL. 75 COMMUNITY MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN STAND AGAINST RACISM IN 2017.
