LOW LITERACY PROJECT - IHA WRITES AND PUBLISHES THE "WHAT TO DO FOR HEALTH" BOOKS, A SERIES OF SELF-HELP HEALTH BOOKS WRITTEN AT A 3RD TO 5TH GRADE READING LEVEL. EACH BOOK IN THIS EASY-TO-READ, EASY-TO-USE SERIES IS WELL ORGANIZED, WITH ACCOMPANYING ILLUSTRATIONS, AND INFORMATION PRESENTED WITH FOUR BASIC QUESTIONS: WHAT IS IT? WHAT DO I SEE? WHAT CAN I DO AT HOME? AND WHEN DO I NEED TO CALL THE NURSE OR DOCTOR? ALL TITLES ARE AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH OR SPANISH, AND SEVERAL TITLES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE IN VIETNAMESE, CHINESE, OR KOREAN. TO DATE, OVER 5 MILLION BOOKS HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES AND INTERNATIONALLY.
FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER - THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES A COMPLETE, FAMILY-CENTERED SUPPORT SYSTEM, WORKING WITH COMMUNITY RESOURCES THAT CAN ADDRESS THE HEALTH, EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL NEEDS OF CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGHOUT NORTH ORANGE COUNTY. SERVICES UNDER THIS PROGRAM INCLUDE: HEALTH INSURANCE APPLICATION ASSISTANCE; PARENT EDUCATION CLASSES; DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION EFFORTS; INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES; FAMILY ADVOCACY; INDIVIDUAL/FAMILY/GROUP COUNSELING; LEGAL HELP, AND MORE.
COMMUNITY FACILITY - IHA OWNED THE BARNETT CENTER, A 47,000 SQUARE FOOT BUILDING IN LA HABRA. INCLUDED IN ITS VARIED TENANT MIX ARE SEVERAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. THE BARNETT CENTER'S 165-SEAT AUDITORIUM AND MEETING CENTER PROVIDE STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES FOR IHA'S USE AS WELL AS A MEETING VENUE FOR LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS HELPING THE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.
