NURTURING, EMPOWERING, AND EQUIPPING YOUNG SINGLE MOTHERS BY DEMONSTRATING THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST.

HOPE UNEXPECTED SEEKS TO ENCOURAGE, EMPOWER AND EQUIP SINGLE MOMS IN JESUS CHRIST THROUGH VARIOUS PROGRAMS WHICH INCLUDE: (1) MONDAY MEET. MONDAY MEETS IS WHERE SINGLE MOMS AND THEIR CHILDREN BUILD COMMUNITY. WE PROVIDE DINNER, CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING THAT IS TAUGHT BY LICENSED TEACHERS, AND INTIMATE CLASS SETTINGS FOR MOMS THAT TEACH FAITH AND LIFE SKILLS SUCH AS BUDGETING, BOUNDARIES, PARENTING, DECISION MAKING AND SELF WORTH. WEEKLY GAS CARDS ARE GIVEN TO PARTICIPANTS, BIWEEKLY DIAPERS AND WIPES ARE GIVEN. WE HAVE DISTRIBUTED 15,000 DIAPERS AND 491 PACKS OF WIPES. (2) CAR CARE PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM OFFERS POINTS FOR ATTENDING THE WEEKLY MONDAY MEETS AND MOMS CAN TURN IN THEIR POINTS FOR CAR REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE AT APPROVED SHOPS. (3) FREE LICENSED COUNSELING. MOMS AND THEIR CHILDREN HAVE ACCESS TO FREE PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING THOUGH ONE OF OUR 3 PARTNER OFFICES. (4) MENTORING. MOMS ARE MATCHED WITH MENTORS WHO WALK ALONGSIDE THEM AND WORK TOWARDS THEIR GOALS. WE HAVE TWO LOCATIONS: BYRON CENTER AND GRAND RAPIDS WEST. EACH LOCATION HAS A CAPACITY TO SERVE 25 WOMEN PLUS THEIR CHILDREN. IN THE PAST YEAR, HOPE UNEXPECTED HAS SERVED APPROXIMATELY 150 WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
