WE AIM TO EDUCATE, ORGANIZE AND MOBILIZE THE LOW-INCOME AND WORKING-CLASS FAMILIES OF THE FILIPINO COMMUNITY IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND ADDRESS THE ISSUES AND CONCERNS THAT WE FACE IN OUR DAILY LIVES. IN CARRYING OUT OUR MISSION, WE CULTIVATE AND (CONTINUED TOP OF PAGE 2)

PROGRAM SERVICES: EDUCATING, ORGANIZING, AND OUTREACH TO IMMIGRANTS, LOW WAGE WORKERS, YOUTH, AND SENIORS.OBJECTIVES: TRAIN AND EMPOWER COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO ORGANIZE FOR GENUINE CHANGE BY ENGAGING IN CAMPAIGNS; ADVOCATE FOR BETTER WORKING CONDITIONS FOR WORKERS; DEVELOP AND STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY RAPID RESPONSE NETWORK; DEVELOP YOUTH LEADERSLONGER-TERM GOALS: TO ENGAGE THE MIGRANT, IMMIGRANT FILIPINO WORKERS, YOUTH, AND FAMILIES AND MOBILIZE THEM TO ADVOCATE FOR THE PRESSING ISSUES AND CONCERNS THEY FACE.


STATISTICAL INFORMATION: AT LEAST ONE QUARTER OF THE FILIPINO POPULATION IS UNDOCUMENTED. FILIPINO MIGRANT CENTER HAS DOCUMENTED OVER $300,000 OF OWED WAGES TO FILIPINO WORKERS. OVER 55,000 FILIPINOS LIVE AND WORK IN THE SOUTH BAY (WILMINGTON, LONG BEACH, AND CARSON CITIES IN CALIFORNIA). 49% OF THE POPULATION IN SOUTH BAY ARE YOUTH AND STUDENTS, MANY OF WHOM ARE LOW INCOME AND AT-RISK AND IN DANGER OF BECOMING INVOLVED IN GANG AND DRUG ACTIVITIES.


ACCOMPLISHMENTS: HELD COMMUNITY RESOURCE CALLS FOR OVER 250 PEOPLE AND PROVIDED KNOW YOUR RIGHTS EDUCATION FOR WORKERS, MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT, AND HOW TO ACCESS ECONOMIC RELIEF ASSISTANCE FOR LOW-WAGE WORKERS AND FAMILIES IMPACTED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. PROVIDED OVER 4,900 HOT MEALS TO FAMILIES + HUNDREDS OF BAGS OF FRESH GROCERIES TO FAMILIES. FILIPINO MIGRANT CENTER PROGRAMS REACHED OVER 1,000 DURING 2021.
