THE KANSAS CITY JAZZ ORCHESTRA PERFORMS 4 MAINSTAGE CONCERTS IN A NORMAL YEAR REACHING NEARLY 4,200 ATTENDEES IN PREVIOUS YEARS. PAID RUNOUTS ARE GENERALLY ATTENDED BY ANOTHER 4,000 AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC SHUTDOWN REACHED MORE THAN 750 STUDENTS FROM THE KANSAS CITY METRO AREA. THIS PAST YEAR WE CEASED IN-PERSON PERFORMANCES AND PRODUCED VIRTUAL OFFERINGS IN THE FORM OF THE ZODIAC SUITE BY MARY LOU WILLIAMS, A PARTNERSHIP WITH KCPBS STATION OF A PERFORMING ARTS SHOWCASE THAT REACHED MORE THAN 100,000 VIEWERS AND A SERIES OF EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE TO JAZZ HISTORY INSTRUCTORS.
