THE MISSION OF THE BUTLER PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA IS TO BRING LIVE, HIGH QUALITY SYMPHONIC MUSIC TO AN UNDERSERVED POPULATION, AND TO ACT AS A FACILITATOR OF EDUCATIONAL ENGAGEMENT IN THE REGION. IN THE FACILITATOR ROLE, THE BPO ENCOURAGES YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN MUSIC AND THE ARTS THROUGH SCHOLARSHIPS, THE GREAT MIAMI YOUTH SYMPHONY AND OTHER YOUTH ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMMING.

THE CORPORATION PROVIDES BOTH FREE AND TICKETED SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA MUSIC CONCERTS TO THE HAMILTON-FAIRFIELD COMMUNITY AND SURROUNDING AREAS. EACH CONCERT, PRESENTED BY PROFESSIONAL PAID MUSICIANS LED BY A PROFESSIONAL CONDUCTOR, EXPOSES, EDUCATES AND ENCOURAGES ALL PEOPLE THROUGH VARIOUS CLASSICAL, POPS AND CHORALE MUSIC ART FORMS. THE CORPORATION ALSO ACTIVELY REACHES BEYOND THESE EVENTS TO PROMOTE MUSICAL EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT WITH ACTIVITIES SUCH AS THE GREAT MIAMI YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, THE HAMILTON FAIRFIELD SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CHORALE AND SCHOLARSHIPS. THE GREAT MIAMI YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA MAINTAINS 85 HIGH SCHOOL AGE PLAYERS THAT PERFORM AT LEAST THREE PUBLIC CONCERTS A YEAR. WEEKLY REHEARSALS, DIRECTED BY A PROFESSIONAL MUSIC CONDUCTOR, PROVIDE ONGOING EXPOSURE TO THE ORCHESTRAL MUSIC EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION. THE CHORALE MAINTAINS 90 SINGERS AND PERFORMS AT LEAST FIVE TIMES A YEAR, OFTEN PARTICIPATING IN A BUTLER PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA CONCERT. WEEKLY REHEARSALS ARE DIRECTED BY THE BUTLER PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA EXECUTIVE MUSIC DIRECTOR. MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY AND SURROUNDING AREA WITH AUDITIONS HELD REGULARLY. MORE THAN 15 SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED ANNUALLY TO STUDENTS SEEKING AN EDUCATION IN MUSIC OR MUSIC-RELATED FIELDS.
