ALLEGRO MAKES GREAT MUSIC ACCESSIBLE IN NEW, FRIENDLY AND PLAYFUL WAYS. ALLEGRO PRESERVES MUSIC MAKING FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS AND FINDS NEW AUDIENCES FOR CLASSICAL MUSIC. THE PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO BE WELCOMING, ENGAGING AND AFFORDABLE, AND THE DIVERSE PERFORMANCES IMPACT ALL AGES. THE GROUP FOCUSES ON MASTER WORKS FOR SMALL ORCHESTRA AND IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING PERFORMANCES TO THOSE WHO HAVE LITTLE CONTACT WITH GREAT COMPOSERS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, IN PERSON ATTENDANCE WAS DRASTICALLY REDUCED DUE TO THE EFFECTS OF COVID-19. NONE THE LESS, 614 ATTENDEES AT A TOTAL OF 8 TICKETED CONCERTS WERE AUGMENTED BY 419 LIVE STREAM TICKET SALES AS WELL AS REBROADCASTS BY 2 RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES.
ALLEGRETTO IS AN ELITE ENSEMBLE OF HIGHLY TALENTED HIGH SCHOOL MUSICIANS, CHOSEN BY AUDITION. 100 YOUNG MUSICIANS AUDITIONED FOR 29 POSITIONS WITH ALLEGRETTO. THE GROUP GIVES YOUNG PLAYERS A CHANCE TO PERFORM THE GREAT ORCHESTRAL WORKS, AND THEY ALSO EXPERIENCE A JOYFUL COLLABORATIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. UNIQUE TO ALLEGRETTO IS ITS COACHING APPROACH WITH THE ALLEGRO PROFESSIONALS PARTICIPATING IN SELECTED REHEARSALS AND JOINING THE YOUTH IN CONCERTS. DUE TO COVID-19, TWO OF THE THREE SCHEDULED CONCERTS WERE CANCELLED. ALLEGRETTO RESUMED ACTIVITIES IN MAY 2021 AND PERFORMED A CONCERT THAT WAS ACCESSIBLE VIA LIVE STREAM ONLY. THERE WERE 66 INDIVIDUALS WHO PAID FOR LIVE-STREAM ACCESS.
