PRIDE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION (HEREIN PHA) SUPPORTS THE WASHINGTON PRIDE, A COLLEGE PREPARATORY YOUTH WOMENS ICE HOCKEY PROGRAM. PHA HAS 4 TEAMS (U19, U16, U14-MAJOR, U-14MINOR) AND A SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR GIRLS AGED 9-12 CALLED PRIDE FUTURES. THE U19 TEAM COMPETES IN THE JUNIOR WOMENS HOCKEY LEAGUE, A LEAGUE OF ICE HOCKEY TEAMS FROM THE US AND CANADA. ALL TEAMS COMPETE AGAINST OTHER MID-ATLANTIC BOYS AND GIRLS HOCKEY TEAMS. THE PURPOSE OF THE PHA PROGRAM IS TO PREPARE YOUNG WOMEN FOR COLLEGE ATHLETICS, ACADEMICS, AND LEADERSHIP. PHA HAS NEARLY A 100% COLLEGE PLACEMENT RATE.
PHA OPERATES THE RINKSPORT COLLEGE PREPARATORY SUMMER ICE HOCKEY CAMP AT BABSON COLLEGE IN WELLESLEY, MA. THE CAMP IS OPEN TO HIGH SCHOOL AGE YOUNG WOMEN WORLDWIDE AND FEATURES NCAA COLLEGE COACHES. THE PURPOSE OF THE CAMP IS TO ENHANCE SKILLS AND EDUCATE PARTICIPANTS ABOUT COLLEGE OPPORTUNITIES AND NCAA RECRUITING RULES IN A COLLEGIATE STYLE ATMOSPHERE.
