OUR PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO OPERATE AS A MEMORIAL TO HONOR THE MEN OF THE 12TH ARMORED DIVISION, AND AS A TEACHING AND RESEARCH MUSEUM, UTILIZING OUR HISTORICAL COLLECTION TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT WWII AND ITS IMPACT ON SOCIETY, CAMP BARKELEY, AND ABILENE, TX. THE EDUCATIONAL PLAN WILL FOCUS ON THE FOLLOWING FIVE OBJECTIVES:1. EXPAND ACADEMIC ACCESS TO WORLD WAR II HISTORICAL MATERIALS, VETERANS, AND THEIR FAMILIES,2. PRESERVE THE HISTORY OF THE 12TH ARMORED DIVISION FOR STUDY, RESEARCH, AND INVESTIGATIONS BY FUTURE GENERATIONS, 3. DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN A TEACHING MUSEUM FOR TRAINING IN PUBLIC HISTORY PROFESSIONS,4. CREATE INNOVATIVE NEW EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS OF ALL AGES, AND5.
