THE TEXAS COUNCIL OF TEACHERS OF MATHEMATICS, TCTM, IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT SUPPORTS THE INSTRUCTION OF MATHEMATICS IN TEXAS CLASSROOMS. WE ARE A SPONSORING ORGANIZATION FOR THE STATE MATHEMATICS CONFERENCE FOR TEACHERS, THE CONFERENCE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF MATHEMATICS TEACHING (CAMT). ATTENDANCE FOR THIS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE USUALLY HAS ATTENDANCE BETWEEN 2000 AND 5000. THE PRESENTATIONS INCLUDE CONTENT, PEDAGOGY, INFORMATION FROM THE STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT AND USE OF TECHNOLOGY. TCTM SUPPORTS TEACHERS DIRECTLY BY PROVIDING A PEER-REVIEWED JOURNAL PUBLISHED TWICE PER YEAR THAT CONTINUES TO FOCUS ON CONTENT AND INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES. THE TCTM WEBSITE PROVIDES ACCESS TO ARCHIVED JOURNAL AND IS FEE TO ALL TEACHERS. MONTHLY EMAILS TO MEMBERS PROVIDES TIMELY INFORMATION ABOUT CHANGES FROM THE STATE ABOUT CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT, LEGISLATION THAT IMPACTS EDUCATION AND ACTIVITIES THAT ARE CLASSROOM READY. TCTM OFFERS MEMBERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY FOR GRANTS TO SUPPORT NEW MATERIALS OR ACTIVITIES THAT ENHANCE CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION. MEMBERS CAN ALSO SPONSOR A COLLEGE STUDENTS' APPLICATION FOR SCHOLARSHIPS TO BE USED FOR UNIVERSITY EXPENSES DURING THE YEAR OF STUDENT TEACHING.
