OHIO WILDLIFE REHABILITATORS ASSOCIATION (OWRA) MISSION IS TO PROMOTE WILDLIFE CONSERVATION BY PROVIDING RESOURCES TO WILDLIFE REHABILITATORS, EDUCATORS AND THE COMMUNITY. OWRA IS COMMITTED TO TRAINING, DEVELOPING, AND NETWORKING WITH WILDLIFE REHABILITATORS ACROSS THE STATE OF OHIO. OWRA HAS AN EXTENSIVE NETWORK OF ANIMAL ADVOCATES WHO WORK TOGETHER TO ASSIST THE PUBLIC WHEN IT ENCOUNTERS INJURED, ORPHANED, OR DISEASED WILDLIFE. THROUGH EDUCATION AND EXPERTISE, OWRA STRIVES TO PROMOTE LIVING IN HARMONY WITH OHIO NATIVE WILDLIFE.

THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE WAS CONDUCTED IN-PERSON IN 2023 WITH WORKSHOPS AND PRESENTATIONS. CONFERENCE TOPICS INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING: URBAN CARNIVORES, AVIAN DISEASE AND DIAGNOSIS, MAMMAL OPHTHALMOLOGY, HUSBANDRY FOR REPTILES AND AMPHIBIAN, ONE HEALTH/ONE WELFARE, AND MORE. SCHOLARSHIP WERE ISSUED TO SEVERAL CONFERENCE ATTENDEES TO PROMOTE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.


WORKSHOP TRAINING PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE SEVERAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO ADDRESS THE NEED FOR CERTIFICATION OF PROSPECTIVE REHABILITATORS. INTRODUCTION TO WILDLIFE REHABILITATION (IWR) TRAINING WAS CONDUCTED FOR REHABILITATORS TO RECEIVE CATEGORY I PERMIT TRAINING AND RABIES VECTOR SPECIES (RVS) WAS CONDUCTED TO SATISFY THE CATEGORY II TRAINING REQUIREMENTS. EXPENSES ARE SPECIFIC TO PRINTED TRAINING MANUALS.


NEWSLETTERS AND THE COMPANY WEBSITE ARE MAINTAINED AS REGULAR METHODS TO EDUCATE AND COMMUNICATE WITH MEMBERS REGARDING PROGRAMS, WORKSHOPS AND ANY ANIMAL WELFARE TOPICS TO SUPPORT BEST PRACTICES.
