Part 3 - Line 4a
DEAF SERVICES CENTER OFFERS INTERPRETING OF AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE, FOREIGN LANGUAGES, AND SPEECH-TO-TEXT SERVICES. INTERPRETERS ARE AVAILABLE FOR HOURLY, ONGOING, AND DAILY APPOINTMENTS. EMERGENCY INTERPRETERS ARE ON-CALL 24 HOURS A DAY. INTERPRETERS ARE USED PRIMARILY IN EDUCATIONAL, LEGAL, AND MEDICAL ENVIRONMENTS. SPEECH-TO-TEXT SERVICES ARE PERFORMED BY TRAINED CAPTIONISTS WHO PROVIDE REAL-TIME ACCESS TO COMMUNICATION WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A TRANSCRIPT AVAILABLE AFTERWARD FOR REVIEW AND/OR STUDY. THE RECIPIENT SIMULTANEOUSLY SEES THE TRANSCRIPT USING A STANDARD INTERNET CONNECTION ON A MOBILE DEVICE SUCH AS A LAPTOP, TABLET, OR SMARTPHONE.
DEAF SERVICES CENTER PROVIDES A FULL RANGE OF EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT SERVICES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR OHIOANS WITH DISABILITIES AND THROUGH ITS CARF ACCREDITATION. DSC OFFERS SUPPORT TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES TO DECIDE ON A CAREER, KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO BECOME EMPLOYED AND TRAIN ON A NEW JOB. IN ADDITION, DSC CAN PROVIDE EDUCATION TO EMPLOYERS ON HOW TO WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE DISABILITIES.
DEAF SERVICES CENTER PROVIDES COMMUNITY SERVICES TO DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING INDIVIDUALS LIVING IN CENTRAL, SOUTHERN, AND NORTHWEST OHIO. BEING A CENTRAL SOURCE OF INFORMATION ON DEAFNESS, DEAF CULTURE AND DISABILITY LAW, DSC IS ABLE TO PROVIDE INFORMATION AND ANSWERS ON A VARIETY OF ISSUES, QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS. THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS INDIVIDUALS ASSISTANCE WITH THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT TO HELP THEM UNDERSTAND THEIR RIGHTS AS WELL AS TO COMPANIES AND ORGANIZATIONS TO UNDERSTAND THEIR OBLIGATIONS TO COMPLY WITH THE LAW.
DEAF SERVICES CENTER PROVIDES ADDITIONAL SERVICES THROUGH PROGRAMS INCLUDING ICANCONNECT, OYO CAMP, DEAF YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM, DEAF KIDS AND TEENS CLUB, KIDS OF DEAF ADULTS PROGRAM, COMMUNITY-LEVEL COURSES IN AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL), PROMOTION OF THE OHIO RELAY PROGRAM, AND THE EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM (EI).
