THE INTERNATIONAL BETTA CONGRESS (IBC) IS AN INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PROMOTING THE EDUCATION, DEVELOPMENT, PROPAGATION AND SHOWCASING OF THE GENUS BETTA-A GROUP OF TROPICAL FISH. THE ORGANIZATION WAS FOUNDED IN THE UNITED STATES AND NOW HAS A U.S. AND INTERNATIONAL MEMBERSHIP OF 930. THE PRIMARY PROGRAMS OF THE ORGANIZATION INCLUDE EDUCATION, THROUGH AN EXTENSIVE LIBRARY OF TECHNICAL ARTICLES, SEMINARS AND OTHER SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS, COMMUNICATION WITH ITS MEMBERS THROUGH ITS QUARTERLY PUBLICATION "THE FLARE! AND ITS WEB SITE. IBC CONDUCTS AN ACTIVE BETTA SHOW CIRCUIT THROUGHOUT ITS MEMBER CHAPTERS, BOTH WITHIN THE U.S. AND WORLDWIDE. THE IBC HOLDS ITS ANNUAL CONVENTION IN JUNE OF EACH YEAR, HOSTED BY ONE OF ITS LOCAL CHAPTERS. THE CONVENTION, HELD IN LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA U.S.A., HAD 40 MEMBERS IN ATTENDENCE. THERE WAS ANOTHER CONVENTION HELD IN NOVEMBER 2017 IN BANGKOK, THAILAND WHICH HAD 68 MEMBERS IN ATTENDENCE. THERE WAS ANOTHER CONVENTION HELD IN FEBRUARY 2018 IN ZAGREB, CROATIA WHICH HAD 18 MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE.
