"ASIAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY SERVICES (AACS) IS A NON-PROFIT COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE OVERALL WELL-BEING AND QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ASIANS IN CENTRAL OHIO BY PROVIDING SOCIAL SERVICES AND EMPOWERING ASIANS THROUGH EDUCATION AND TRAINING TO OVERCOME CULTURAL AND LANGUAGE BARRIERS. THE ORGANIZATION WAS FOUNDED IN 1976 AND AS THE POPULATION EVOLVED, SO DID AACS' PROGRAMS AND SERVICES. TODAY, AACS' PROGRAMS FALL UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF FOUR OVERARCHING DEPARTMENTS INCLUDING: -YOUTH AND FAMILY, WHICH ENCOMPASSES HEALTHY ASIAN YOUTH, AN AFTERSCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES TUTORING, MENTORSHIP, AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL SERVICES TO STUDENTS IN GRADES K-12; CAMBODIAN AND KOREAN SENIOR SERVICES; AND CASE MANAGEMENT FOR VICTIMS OF CRIME (INCLUDING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING); -HEALTH CARE AND PREVENTION, WHICH INCLUDES THE ASIAN HEALTH INITIATIVE, A FREE WEEKLY HEALTH CLINIC; HEPATITIS B EDUCATION, PREVENTION, AND SCREENING -COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, INCLUDING ESL COURSES, QUILTING AND IKEBANA CLASSES; AND *INTERPRETATION AND TRANSLATION, OUR SOCIAL ENTERPRISE ENDEAVOR, WHICH PROVIDES 24/7 EXPERT INTERPRETERS, INCLUDING PUBLIC AND PRIVATE AGENCIES.
