UNITED WAY OF UNION COUNTY UTILIZES A VOLUNTEER DRIVEN PROCESS TO INVEST RESOURCES IN PROGRAMS AND SERVICES WHICH MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN MANY WAYS AND TO IMPACT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE'S LIVES IN UNION COUNTY. BY USING THE COMMUNITY'S EXPERTISE AND RESOURCES, THE UNITED WAY COMPETENTLY AND EFFICIENTLY REACHES PEOPLE IN IMMEDIATE NEED AND PROVIDES PROGRAMS FOR A WIDE VARIETY OF SERVICES.
THE UNITED WAY OF UNION COUNTY MAINTAINS TWO SEPARATE GRANT FUNDS THAT ENABLES IT TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY SUPPORT. THERE IS A VENTURE GRANT FUND THAT CAN BE USED FOR A WIDE VARIETY OF PROGRAMS AS LONG AS THEY COINCIDE WITH THE UNITED WAY'S MISSION, MEET ACCOUNTABILITY STANDARDS AND ARE A TAX-EXEMPT ORGANIZATION. THE OTHER GRANT FUND IS EARMARKED TOWARDS YOUTH EDUCATION, ARTS AND RECREATION PROGRAMS THAT MEET THE SAME STANDARDS. THIS ALSO INCLUDES INTERNAL PROGRAMS SUCH AS COMMUNITY CARE DAY.
UNITED WAY OF UNION COUNTY ALLOWS DONORS TO DESIGNATE GIFTS TO OTHER UNITED WAYS OR SPECIFIC AGENCIES. ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVING DONOR DESIGNATED CONTRIBUTIONS THROUGH UNITED WAY UNDERGO SCREENING PRIOR TO DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDING. SUCH SCREENING INCLUDES VERIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE PATRIOT ACT AND VERIFICATION OF CURRENT STATUS AS AN IRS CODE SECTION 501(C) (3) NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION.
