MERCY HEALTH SOUTHWEST MISSOURI/KANSAS COMMUNITIES IS EXEMPT FROM FEDERAL INCOME TAX AS AN ORGANIZATION DESCRIBED IN IRC SECTION 501(C)(3) AND QUALIFIES AS A PUBLIC CHARITY UNDER IRC SECTION 509(A)(3). MERCY HEALTH SOUTHWEST MISSOURI/KANSAS COMMUNITIES AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES PROVIDE HIGH-QUALITY, COMPASSIONATE, FAITH-BASED CARE IN A VARIETY OF TRADITIONAL MEDICAL SETTINGS. THIS ORGANIZATION PROVIDES SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE, WITH PARTICULAR CONCERN FOR THE ECONOMICALLY POOR, IN THE WAY OF INPATIENT HOSPITAL SERVICES, OUTPATIENT SERVICES, EMERGENCY ROOM CARE, AND PHYSICIAN CLINIC OFFICE VISITS. MERCY HEALTH SOUTHWEST MISSOURI/KANSAS COMMUNITIES IS A SUPPORTING ORGANIZATION OF MERCY HOSPITAL JOPLIN AND MERCY KANSAS COMMUNITIES. MERCY HEALTH SOUTHWEST MISSOURI/KANSAS COMMUNITIES ALSO PROVIDES SUPPORT SERVICES TO OTHER MEMBERS OF THE MERCY SOUTHWEST MISSOURI/KANSAS COMMUNITY, INCLUDING MERCY HOSPITAL CARTHAGE, MERCY HOSPITAL COLUMBUS, AND MERCY SPECIALTY HOSPITAL SOUTHEAST KANSAS. THE SUPPORT SERVICES INCLUDE FUNCTIONS THAT, BUT FOR MERCY HEALTH SOUTHWEST MISSOURI/KANSAS COMMUNITIES, WOULD BE CONDUCTED BY EACH SEPARATE ORGANIZATION. THE PHYSICIANS AT MERCY CLINIC JOPLIN ARE DEVOTED TO PROVIDING EXCEPTIONAL, COMPREHENSIVE CARE TO PATIENTS OF ALL AGES, INCLUDING CHILDREN'S CARE AND SENIOR CARE. DURING THE YEAR, TOTAL PROVIDER VISITS CAME IN AT 281,620 AND INCLUDED 150,231 PHYSICIAN VISITS AND 131,389 APC VISITS.
