HOUSTON CINEMA ARTS SOCIETY (HCAS) MAKES FILM A PART OF THE CITY'S CULTURAL INFRASTRUCTURE, REACHING HOUSTONIANS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AND INCREASING ACCESS TO THE ART FORM FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. HOUSTON CINEMA ARTS FESTIVAL AND THE YEAR-ROUND SCREENINGS, EVENTS, PANELS, LIVE PERFORMANCES, FILMMAKER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES, AND FIELD TRIPS FOR STUDENTS PRESENTED BY HCAS ATTRACT APPROXIMATELY 5,600 HOUSTONIANS EACH YEAR. OUR CINESPACE SHORT FILM COLLABORATION WITH NASA RECEIVED 250 ENTRIES FROM 44 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES IN THE PAST YEAR. WE SERVE COMMUNITIES ALL OVER HOUSTON IN COLLABORATION WITH LEADING ARTS ORGANIZATIONS FOR A DECENTRALIZED ENGAGEMENT. OUR AUDIENCES REFLECT HOUSTON'S CULTURAL DIVERSITY: 15% HISPANIC AND LATINX, 13% AFRICAN AMERICAN, AND 13% ASIAN AMERICAN.
