THE MUSEUM PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH ITS EXHIBITIONS AND PROGRAMMING. THE MUSEUM'S PERMANENT EXHIBITS FOCUS ON THE HISTORY OF DICKSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR, THE RAILROAD, THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, AND THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF GOVERNOR FRANK G. CLEMENT. FRANK G. CLEMENT, THE 41ST GOVERNOR OF TENNESSEE, WAS BORN AT THE SITE OF THE HISTORIC HOTEL HALBROOK IN 1920. HE WAS A MAJOR PROPONENT FOR THE MODERNIZATION OF TENNESSEE. UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP, THE STATE SAW EXTENSIVE REFORMS IN EDUCATION, INFRASTRUCTURE, THE STATE PRISON SYSTEM, AND THE END OF JIM CROW SEGREGATION.
