THE WEAVERS' GUILD OF ROCHESTER, INC. (WGR) MISSION STATEMENT: ENHANCING LIVES THROUGH THE STUDY AND CREATIVE EXPRESSION IN WEAVING AND FIBER ARTS. THE GUILD ALSO OPERATES A WEAVING AND FIBER ARTS CENTER (WAFAC), OUR VENUE FOR CONDUCTING CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS.

GENERAL GUILD ACTIVITIES INCLUDED MONTHLY PROGRAM LECTURES, USE OF THE GUILD LIBRARY, NEWSLETTER DELIVERY, SCHOLARSHIPS, EQUIPMENT RENTAL, AND WORKSHOPS. STARTING IN OCTOBER 2021 WE RESUMED IN PERSON MEETINGS, BUT CONTINUED WITH ZOOM SO THAT ALL MEMBERS COULD PARTICIPATE. WITH IN PERSON MEETINGS RE REGAINED ACCESS TO THE GUILD LIBRARY AND PROGRAMS WERE PRESENTED IN PERSON AND VIA ZOOM. SOME WORKSHOPS WERE ALSO ON ZOOM. IN ADDITION TO THE RESUMPTION OF THESE GUILD ACTIVITIES WE ALSO HOSTED AN EXHIBITION CELEBRATING THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE GUILD. THIS WAS A 2 1/2 DAY EVENT FEATURING HANDS ON DEMONSTRATIONS, A JURIED EXHIBITION OF MORE THAN 200 ITEMS AND A KEYNOTE SPEAKER.
WGR AWARDED 2 SCHOLARSHIPS IN THIS FISCAL YEAR. WGR AS A BENEFIT TO ITS MEMBERS ALSO PAID THE SALES TAX ON ITEMS SOLD AT THE ANNUAL HOLIDAY SALE
THE WEAVING AND FIBER ARTS CENTER (WAFAC) OFFERS CLASSES TO THE MEMBERSHIP AND TO THE PUBLIC. AREA INSTRUCTORS CONTRACT TO TEACH BOTH ADULTS AND YOUTHS.
OUR HOLIDAY SALE WAS RESUMED IN NOVEMBER 2021 AFTER BEING CANCELED IN 2020 DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. THIS PROVIDES A VENUE FOR MEMBERS TO SELL THEIR CREATIONS AND TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE ART OF HANDWEAVING
