THE BUTTE AGRICULTURE FOUNDATION WAS FORMED TO FURTHER THE EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH OF THE AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITY IN BUTTE COUNTY AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. THE BUTTE AGRICULTURE FOUNDATION LOOKS FORWARD TO SUPPORTING LOCALLY ORGANIZED AGRICULTURE GROUPS AND EFFORTS TO PROVIDE THE RESOURCES AND SERVICES NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE EFFORTS TO INFORM AND PROMOTE THE VALUE OF OUR AGRARIAN COMMUNITY.

THE HONEYBEE DISCOVERY CENTER TEACHES THE IMPORTANCE OF POLLINATORS, ESPECIALLY HONEYBEES, PLAY IN THE ENVIRONMENT. ONE OUT OF EVERY THREE BITES WE EAT IS THANKS TO A BEE.
SIERRA ORA FARM TRAIL - OCTOBER WEEKEND THAT ALLOWS 30 FARMS TO OPEN THEIR GATES AND BARN DOORS FOR 2,000 CONSUMERS TO TOUR THEIR FACILITIES AND LEARN FIRST-HAND HOW THEY PRODUCE THEIR AGRICULTURE PRODUCTS.
THE BIG HARVEST IS A COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING DRIVE BENEFITING THE AREA FOR CONTINUED AGRICULTURAL SUPPORT.
THE OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES PROVIDED INCLUDE:FARM CITY CELEBRATION - THREE EVENTS IN NOVEMBER THAT ALLOW URBAN RESIDENTS TO BE UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH LOCAL AGRICULTURE. 230 GUESTS ON A BUS TOUR OF FIVE UNMQUIE FARMING ENTERPRISES, FESTIVAL FOR 3000 PEOPLE IN THE CITY CENTER THE BRINGS AG ACTIVITES TO THE URBAN RESIDENTS AND AN AG DAY FOR 500 ELEMENTRAY SCHOOL CHILDREN. COMMONTHREADS NORTH - ANNUALLY RECOGNIZES WOMEN IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FOR THEIR CONTIBUITIONS TO EDUCATIONG AND PROMOTING THE IMPORTANCE AND VALUE OF AGRICULTURE IN THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES. SILVER DOLLAR FAIR FOUNDATION ACCEPTS AG COMMUNITY DONATIONS TO SUPPORT RESTORATION AND IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS AT THE SILVER DOLLAR FAIR GROUNDS. FRIENDS OF AGRICULTURE WAS ORIGINALLY FORMED TO SUPPORT THE CHICO HIGH SCHOOL FFA PROGRAM FROM POTENTIAL BUDGET CUTS. THEY HAVE NOW GROWN TO SUPPORT AG EDUCATION IN ALL OF BUTTE COUNTY. THE GROUP RAISES FUNDS THROUGH AN ANNUAL DINNER. GLENN COUNTY FAIR HERITAGE FUND.
