ADMINISTRATION OF NON-FINANCIAL COMPONENTS OF TENNESSEE PROMISE AS A PARTNERING ORANIZATION IN 83 COUNTIES OF TENNESSEE - THE ORGANIZATION ADMINSITERS TENNESSEE PROMISE FOR THE TENNESSEE HIGHER EDUCATION COMMISSION AND TENNESSEE STUDENT ASSISTANCE CORPORATION. THROUGH PROGRAMS OPERATED BY TNACHIEVES, TENNESSEE PROMISE PROVIDES COUNSELING AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THAT ALLOWS STUDENTS TO ATTEND A POST SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM IN THE STATE OF TENNESEE. TNACHIEVES ENSURES STUDENTS MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR RECIEVING ASSISTANCE, FACILITATES VOLUNTEER MENTORING TO ENSURE STUDENT SUCCESS AND MONITORS REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER AND SERVICE ROLES AS A PART OF RECEIVEING ASSISTANCE.
MANAGMENT OF KNOX PROMISE - THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES KNOX PROMISE. KNOX PROMISE IS A PILOT PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES MENTORING, COACHING AND FINANCIAL ASSITANCE TO STUDENTS FROM KNOX COUNTY, TN. RECIPIENTS ARE DETERMINED BY NEED TO ENSURE UNEXPECTED FINANCIAL BURDENS ARE NOT BARRIERS TO COLLEGE GRADUATION. LIMITED ASSISTANCE MAY BE PROVIDED TO PURCHASE BOOKS, PAY RENT OR TRANSPORTATION COSTS, FOOD OR OTHER FINANCIAL NEEDS A STUDENT MAY HAVE THAT MIGHT ENDANGER THEIR ABILITY TO STAY IN SCHOOL. IF A STUDENT MEETS THE SPECIFIC FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSISTANCE, KNOX PROMISE STUDENTS MAY RECEIVE UP TO $1,500 PER STUDENT PER SEMESTER FOR UP TO FIVE SEMESTERS OR $938 PER STUDENT FOR UP TO EIGHT TRIMESTERS.
THE ORGANIZATION MANAGES AND DISBURSES COMPLETION GRANTS FOR STUDENTS ACROSS TENNESSEE EXCLUDING KNOX COUNTY, DETERMINED BY NEED, TO ENSURE UNEXPECTED FINANCIAL BURDENS ARE NOT BARRIERS TO COLLEGE GRADUATION.
