Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
IN JANUARY 2016, SPHERE COLLABORATED WITH THE DAVINCI CENTER FOR MUSICAL ARTS TO PRODUCE THE CREATIONS CONCERT AT THE BROOMFIELD AUDITORIUM. 49 MUSIC STUDENTS COMPOSED ORIGINAL PIECES WHICH WERE THEN ARRANGED FOR SPHERE'S INSTRUMENTATION BY SEVERAL OF OUR MUSICIANS. THE CREATIONS CONCERT INSPIRES YOUNG MUSICIANS TO CONNECT TO GENRES AND MUSICIANS OUTSIDE OF POPULAR MUSIC AND DIGITAL MEDIA. IT ENCOURAGES YOUNG STUDENTS TO TAKE CREATIVE RISKS, AND SHOWS THE VALUE OF EXPRESSING THEMSELVES THROUGH MUSIC TO AN AUDIENCE OUTSIDE OF THEIR IMMEDIATE FAMILY. THE CONCERT ALSO SHOWS THEM THE VALUE OF SHARING THEIR ARTISTIC VISIONS WITH OTHER MUSICIANS, BOTH STUDENT AND PROFESSIONAL. ALMOST 200 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE CONCERT. IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER OF 2015, SPHERE PERFORMED AT CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN AURORA, COLORADO. THESE CASUAL PERFORMANCES TOOK PLACE IN THE LOBBY OF THE INPATIENT HOSPITAL BUILDING. AUDIENCE MEMBERS COULD STAY FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW, OR STOP BY FOR JUST A MOMENT. EACH CONCERT REACHED ANYWHERE FROM 100-250 PATIENTS, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND HOSPITAL STAFF. FOLLOWING THE LOBBY PERFORMANCE, SPHERE VISITED THE HOSPITAL'S TELEVISION STUDIO TO PERFORM VIA CLOSED-CIRCUIT TV, SO THAT PATIENTS WHO WERE UNABLE TO LEAVE THEIR ROOMS COULD ENJOY OUR MUSIC. SPHERE'S MUSICIANS DONATED THEIR TIME TO MAKE OUR APPEARANCES AT CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL POSSIBLE. SPHERE PERFORMED TWO LARGE-SCALE EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH CONCERTS AT THE INVITATION OF UP CLOSE AND MUSICAL, A NON-PROFIT THAT FUNDS IN-SCHOOL PERFORMANCES. OUR ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM USES THE MUPPET SHOW THEME, PLAYED IN A VARIETY OF STYLES, TO DEMONSTRATE THE ELEMENTS OF MUSIC AND MUSICAL GENRES TO STUDENTS. THIS PROGRAM CAN BE TAILORED FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 3-8, AND WAS PRESENTED TO APPROXIMATELY 100 STUDENTS IN THE SHERIDAN SCHOOL DISTRICT IN NOVEMBER 2015. A PERFORMANCE AT ENGLEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL IN MAY 2016 PRESENTED "POP STARS THROUGH THE CENTURIES," A PROGRAM OF COMPOSERS AND SONGWRITERS WHO WERE POPULAR DURING THEIR LIFETIMES. PIECES BY MOZART, STEPHEN FOSTER, CHUCK BERRY, THE BEATLES, AND REGINA SPEKTOR WERE PRESENTED TO 615 STUDENTS.
