THE KANSAS HEALTH INFORMATION NETWORK (KONZA) PROVIDES HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE SERVICES TO KANSAS HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS. SERVICES INCLUDE SECURE MESSAGING, QUERY BASED EXCHANGE, TRANSPORT OF DATA TO PUBLIC HEALTH REGISTRIES, PERSONAL HEALTH RECORD AND RELATED SUPPORT NECESSARY TO ASSIST HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS MEET THEIR MEANINGFUL USE REQUIREMENTS.

DURING 2022, KANSAS HEALTH INFORMATION NETWORK,INC, DBA KONZA, PROVIDED HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE SERVICES TO HEALTH CARE MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS IN 10 STATES. THESE INCLUDED QUERY BASED AND DIRECT MESSAGING SERVICES. THESE SERVICES ALLOWED KONZA MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS TO ACCESS A LONGITUDINAL RECORD OF ALL OF THE PATIENT'S HEALTH AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INFORMATION ACROSS ALL OF THE ORGANIZATIONS IN WHICH THE PATIENT HAS RECEIVED CARE. KONZA ALSO PROVIDED DIRECT SERVICES WHICH ALLOW IMPORTANT HEALTH INFORMATION TO BE EXCHANGED ELECTRONICALLY THROUGH A SECURE ENCRYPTED EMAIL SYSTEM DEVELOPED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. IN ADDITION, KONZA SERVES AS THE TRANSPORT LAYER FOR PROVIDERS TO TRANSPORT THEIR PUBLIC HEALTH INFORMATION TO THE STATE AND FEDERAL REGISTRIES. THIS INCLUDES SENDING IMMUNIZATION DATA TO THE APPROPRIATE IMMUNIZATION REGISTRY/WEBIZ, SENDING REPORTABLE LABS TO EPITRAX, SENDING SYNDROMIC SURVEILLANCE DATA TO BIOSENSE/CDC, SENDING CANCER SUMMARY DOCUMENTS TO CANCER REGISTRIES AND SENDING DATA TO INFECTIOUS DISEASE REGISTRIES, AS WELL AS BIRTH DEFECTS REGISTRIES.LASTLY, KONZA PROVIDES A PERSONAL HEALTH RECORD (PHR) FOR PATIENTS. THIS IS A SECURE ELECTRONIC LOCATION FOR PATIENTS TO RECEIVE AND SEND SECURE EMAILS TO HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS. PATIENTS CAN ALSO MAINTAIN THEIR HEALTH RECORDS HERE, AS WELL AS MAINTAIN IMPORTANT HEALTH DOCUMENTS, SUCH AS A LIVING WILL. THE PHR'S INTEGRATE WITH IMMUNIZATION REGISTRIES. THIS ALLOWS PATIENTS TO VIEW, TRANSMIT, AND DOWNLOAD THEIR IMMUNIZATION RECORDS FROM THE STATE.KONZA IS A MEMBER OF THE EHEALTH EXCHANGE. EHEALTH EXCHANGE IS THE GOVERANCE MECHANISM THAT THE OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL COORDINATOR ESTABLISHED FOR THE NATIONAL HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE. THIS MEMBERSHIP ALLOWS KONZA TO CONNECT TO OTHER HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGES, AS WELL AS MAKE CONNECTIONS WITH THE VETERAN'S ADMINISTRATION. KONZA ALSO APPLIED FOR STATUS AS A QUALIFIED HEALTH INFORMATION NETWORK (QHIN) UNDER THE TRUSTED EXCHANGE FRAMEWORK AND COMMON AGREEMENT BY THE OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL COORDINATOR (ONC) FOR HEALTH IT IN 2022.
