THE CONSERVANCY STRATEGICALLY PLANS, IMPLEMENTS, AND MANAGES CAPITAL PROJECTS IN THE GARDEN, AS WELL AS ITS ONGOING MAINTENANCE. DURING 2021, SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS WAS MADE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEW VEGETABLE GARDEN AND THE RESTORATION OF THE TEMPLE OF THE SKY. NEW PROJECTS WERE ADDED INCLUDING MEADOW, SERVICE AREA, AND SWITCHBACK FOUNTAIN.
THE CONSERVANCY PRESENTS CLASSES, TOURS, LECTURES, VIDEOS, AND CONCERTS THAT INTERPRET THE GARDEN'S ARCHITECTURE, HORTICULTURE, AND HISTORY AND ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO INTERACT WITH THE NATURAL SETTING; IT PROVIDES PAID INTERNSHIPS THAT TEACH HORTICULTURAL SKILLS TO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS; AND IT PROMOTES COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT THROUGH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AND EVENTS SUCH AS THE GRAND HOLIDAY ILLUMINATION.
