OPERATIONS ARE IN PLACE TO DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN THE TRAILS, SHELTERS AND STRUCTURES THAT ARE A PART OF THE CLUB'S TRAIL SYSTEM. WE ALSO MAINTAIN OPEN AREAS, WHICH HAS GOALS OF MAINTAINING THE AGRICULTURAL CHARACTER OF THE REGION, SUPPRESSING INVASIVE SPECIES, AND PROVIDING MEADOW ENVIRONMENTS FOR WILDLIFE. EDUCATION AND OUTREACH: THE GREEN MOUNTAIN CLUB PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO THE HIKING PUBLIC THROUGH ITS WORKSHOPS, SERVICE LEARNING, AND GROUP OUTREACH. WE LEAD SERVICE TRIPS FOR YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS, COLLEGES AND BUSINESSES THAT BOLSTER OUR FIELD PROGRAMS AND INSTILL A CONNECTION TO THE LONG TRAIL. THROUGHOUT THE WINTER, WE HOST A SPEAKER SERIES ON HIKING-RELATED TOPICS, AND IN THE SPRING AND SUMMER, WE HOLD A SERIES OF WORKSHOPS ABOUT BACKPACKING AND THE OUTDOORS.
