ADULT EDUCATION: IN 2021, EARTHDANCE PILOTED A REDESIGN OF ITS ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO PROVIDE A 5-WEEK PROGRAM "SPRING TRAINING FOR GARDENERS" FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN LEARNING BACKYARD AND COMMUNITY GARDENING (66 PARTICIPANTS IN 2021), AND A PAID SUMMER APPRENTICESHIP OPTION FOR INDIVIDUALS PURSUING A CAREER IN AGRICULTURE (FOUR PARTICIPANTS IN 2021). EARTHDANCE FOSTERS AN ACTIVE VOLUNTEER CORPS, WITH OVER 50 REGULAR PARTICIPANTS CONTRIBUTING OVER 3600 HOURS OF SERVICE ON THE FARM IN 2021.
FARM TO SCHOOL: EARTHDANCE'S DEVELOPING PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FERGUSON-FLORISSANT SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL CONNECT THE DISTRICT'S 10,000+ STUDENTS, FAMILIES, AND STAFF TO FARM-TO-SCHOOL PROGRAMMING FOR AGES K-12. THIS INITIATIVE BUILDS ON EARTHDANCE'S EXISTING YOUTH PROGRAMMING, WHICH HAS INCLUDED FIELD TRIPS, A JOBS PROGRAM FOR FERGUSON TEENS, AND SERVICE-LEARNING OPPORTUNITES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE. IN 2022 EARTHDANCE ANTICIPATES SERVING 100 STUDENTS AND DISTRICT STAFF, AND BROADENING THE REACH OF THE PROGRAM IN COMING YEARS.
