BERKS COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER (BCHC) HAS BEEN PROVIDING SERVICES AS AN FQHC SINCE JUNE 2012 AND PROVIDES A FULL RANGE OF PRIMARY CARE AND PREVENTIVE SERVICES FOR ADULT AND PEDIATRIC PATIENTS ON-SITE. BCHC HAS PROVIDED CARE TO 56,128 UNDUPLICATED PATIENTS THROUGH 304,491 VISITS. IT ATTRACTS NOT ONLY PATIENTS FROM READING, BUT ALSO FROM ALL PARTS OF BERKS AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES. BCHC PROVIDES EXCEPTIONAL FAMILY-CENTERED PRIMARY AND PREVENTIVE HEALTHCARE FOR ALL RESIDENTS OF BERKS COUNTY, REGARDLESS OF ECONOMIC STATUS. THE CENTER HAS A SLIDING FEE SCHEDULE FOR PATIENTS WHO MEET CERTAIN CRITERIA UNDER ITS CHARITY CARE POLICY. THE SLIDING FEES ARE AMOUNTS LESS THAN ESTABLISHED RATES. THE LEVEL OF CHARITY CARE PROVIDED BY THE CENTER AMOUNTED TO APPROXIMATELY $1,658,904 IN 2020.
