THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO PRESERVE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES AND COLLECTIONS, TO CURATE THE COLLECTIONS LOCALLY, AND TO MAKE THEM AVAILABLE FOR RESEARCH AND EDUCATION.

PUBLIC EDUCATION INCLUDES: LECTURES, CLASSES, FIELD TRIPS, FILMS, EXHIBITS. THE MUSEUM'S GRAND OPENING OF THE NEW BUILDING WAS IN MARCH 2022. TO PREPARE FOR THE GREATLY EXPANDED FACILITY, ADDITIONAL PROGRAM STAFF WAS HIRED WHICH ACCOUNTS FOR THE BULK OF THE INCREASED PROGRAM SERVICE EXPENSES. STAFF TIME WAS DEVOTED TO DEVELOPING NEW MUSEUM EXHIBITS FOR THE NEW BUILDING, AND RELATED ACTIVITIES. THE NEW BUILDING REQUIRED UPDATING MANY EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, SUCH AS THE WEBSITE, BROCHURES, INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL, MUSEUM GUIDES, ETC. SINCE THE NEW FACILITY WAS ONLY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC IN MARCH 2022, PROGRAM REVENUE WAS LOW DUE TO THE REDUCED DAYS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC DURING THE FISCAL YEAR. IN ADDITION, EVEN WITH THE NEW BUILDING, REVENUE IS USUALLY DOWN DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS THAT ONLY ALLOWED A FEW MONTHS (MARCH, APRIL, MAY, SEPTEMBER) FOR PROGRAM REVENUE GENERATION.
