THE MISSION OF THE HELIO FOUNDATION IS TO SERVE THE UNDERSERVED WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY.

THE FLOAT THE BOAT PROGRAM ASSISTED INDEPENDENT COMMERCIAL FISHERMEN IN REPLACING EQUIPMENT AND REPAIRING DAMAGES DUE TO HURRICANE IDA. EACH FAMILY WAS ALLOSED UP TO $4,999.00. THIS ALLOWED THE FISHERMEN TO GET BACK TO WORK MUCH QUICKER AND BEGIN REBUILDING THEIR FAMILIES LIVES AND LIVELIHOOD. NO REVENUE WAS MADE FROM THIS PROGRAM. THE FUNDS USED WERE FROM DONATIONS RECEIVED FROM THE PUBLIC. THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED A $50,000 GRANT FROM THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS FOUNDATION TO HELP WITH THIS PROGRAM. THE REMAINDER OF THESE FUNDS WERE DONATED BY THE PUBLIC.


THE MOVING COMMUNITY FORWARD PROGRAM ASSISTED FAMILIES IN BOTH DIRECTLY REBUILDING DAMAGED HOMES, REPLACING LOST HOME GOODS AND RESTOCKING FOOD GOODS LOST DUE TO HURRICANE IDA. THE INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATING IN THIS PROGRAM WERE REFERRED THROUGH COMMUNITY LEADERS.


MOMS PANTRY IS A PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO PEOPLE STRUGGLING TO GET ENOUGH FOOD THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY.
