THE CHARLOTTE FILM SOCIETYS PRIMARY MISSION IS TO BRING ARTHOUSE FOREIGN AND INDEPENDENT FILMS TO CHARLOTTE AND TO EDUCATE, ENABLE AND ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH FILM. THE INDEPENDENT PICTURE HOUSE, AND IS OPEN YEAR AROUND.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE CHARLOTTE FILM SOCIETY OWNS AND OPERATES A THREE-SCREEN CINEMA FOR MOTION PICTURES. FOCUSING ON FOREIGN AND INDEPENDENT FILMS, THE CINEMA IS OPEN TO ITS MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC 365 DAYS A YEAR. VARIOUS FILM SERIES, SPECIAL SCREENING BY DIRECTORS AND FILM MAKERS AND OTHER FILM FOCUSED EVENTS ARE HELD AT THE CINEMA. ALL SPECIAL SCREENING AND EVENTS ARE FOLLOWED BY AN EDUCATIONAL DISCUSSION AND Q&A.


CHARLOTTE FILM FESTIVAL IS HELD ONCE A YEAR IN THE FALL. 25 COUNTRIES WERE REPRESENTED AND OVER 125 FILMS WERE SCREENED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.


THE COMMUNITY IMPACT FILM SERIES FOCUSES ON HEALTH AND SOCIAL ISSUES. DURING 2023, SCREENING TOPICS COVERED WOMEN'S HEALTH, MENTAL HEALTH AND HOMELESSNESS. EACH SCREENING IS FOLLOWED BY A PANEL DISCUSSION LED BY EXPERTS AND A RESOURCE FAIR.
