Part 3

IN 2023, WE CONTINUED TO DISTRIBUTE FOOD TO THE UNDERSERVED AREA OF SOUTH EAST DALLAS PROVIDING SAFE FAMILY ACTIVITIES TO ENRICH THEIR FAMILY LIFE. A) WE DISTRIBUTED HEALTHY FOOD TO 20 FAMILIES MONTHLY TO ASSIST IN THEIR MONTHLY FOOD BILL.B) WE CONTINUED A WEEKLY MINISTRY THAT ALLOWED FOR US TO HELP PROVIDE FOR THE FOOD NEEDS OF THE CHILDREN IN OUR AREA, ESPECIALLY DURING THE SUMMER. WE HAD EVENTS LIKE CLOWNS, BUBBLE TRUCKS, WATER SLIDES, AND LUNCH FOR THE FAMILY ONE DAY A WEEK. ON THAT DAY WE WOULD PROVIDE BACKPACKS FOR 75 CHILDREN. THIS BACKPACK WAS FILLED WITH BREAKFAST, LUNCH, AND SNACKS FOR THE CHILDREN. THEY WOULD TAKE THE BACKPACK EACH WEEK AND THEN RETURN IT FOR ANOTHER BACKPACK AT THE NEXT EVENT. THIS WAS A WEEKLY MINISTRY. THE FOOD PROVIDED WAS BOUGHT AT STORES WITH THE INTENTION OF HAVING MORE NUTRITIONAL VALUE THAN THE LOCAL FOOD BANK MIGHT PROVIDE. C) WE PROVIDED A BACK-TO-SCHOOL EVENT FOR FAMILIES OF LOCAL SCHOOL CHILDREN. THEY RECEIVED BACKPACKS, FOOD (FOR THE FAMILY), SCHOOL SUPPLIES, NEW SHOES, AND TOILETRY ITEMS. THIS EVENT PROVIDED FOR THE BACK-TO-SCHOOL NEEDS OF 259 CHILDREN, 94 FAMILIES. E) DURING SPRING, SUMMER, AND FALL WE PROVIDE SPORTS FOR THE CHILDREN AND ADULTS CALLED GLORY SOCCER, GLORY KICKBALL AND GLORY BASEBALL. THESE SPORTS ARE ATTENDED TO BY 100S OF CHILDREN. THE POSITIVE RESULT OF THESE SPORTS IS TO ALLOW CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES TO HAVE A SAFE PLACE TO PARTICIPATE IN QUALITY SPORTS. A SIDE BENEFIT IS THE ABILITY TO PROVIDE A SAFE LOCATION FOR COMMUNITY TO BE BUILT.F) IN DECEMBER WE TAKE SANTA CLAUS TO THE MOBILE HOME PARKS, AND HE HANDS OUT CANDY AND GREATS THE CHILDREN. THE KEY TO THIS MINISTRY IS DURING THIS TIME WE PASS OUT BLANKETS TO THE CHILDREN WHO LIVE IN AT TIMES DRAFTY MOBILE HOMES. THIS ALSO ALLOWS US TO SEE OTHER NEEDS IN THE COMMUNITY. G) WE HOLD A ONE-DAY CHRISTMAS EVENT THAT REACHES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY AND ITS CHILDREN. THIS EVENT ALLOWS FOR MORE BLANKETS TO BE HANDED OUT, ALONG WITH FOOD AND GIFTS (MOSTLY TEDDY BEARS FOR CHILDREN) FOR THE CHILDREN. IT IS FILLED WITH SANTA, GAMES, GIFTS, AND THE CHRISTMAS STORY. THIS HELPS US TO ACCOMPLISH OUR GOAL OF BUILDING A SAFER COMMUNITY AND GIVING HOPE.H) WE HOLD AN ANNUAL HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL ONCE A YEAR THAT PULLS THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER FOR A NIGHT OF FUN. AGAIN, IT IS A SAFE PLACE FOR THE FAMILY TO ENJOY COMMUNITY. WE PROVIDE GAMES, CANDY, AND PRIZES FOR THE FAMILIES WHO PARTICIPATED.I) WE ASSISTED A GROUP HOME IN SOUTHEAST DALLAS THAT HOUSES PEOPLE WHO WOULD OTHERWISE BE HOMELESS. THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO FAMILY OR ARE HAVE SERIOUS HEALTH CARE ISSUES. * MUCH OF OUR MINISTRY STILL REVOLVED AROUND SUPPLYING FOOD FOR THE FAMILIES IN THE LAWSON/SOUTHEAST DALLAS COMMUNITY AS THEY CONTINUED TO STRUGGLE WITH THE BASIC NEEDS DURING A TIME OF HIGH INFLATION. THE BACKPACK MINISTRY WAS A WEEKLY KEY TO KEEPING CHILDREN ENGAGED IN OUTSIDE ACTIVITY AS WELL AS WITH SNACKS THAT HAD SOME HEALTH BENEFIT. OUR SPORTS MINISTRY HELPS OUR CHILDREN IN KEEPING ACTIVE AND IN POSITIVE ACTIVITIES. WE COMBINE SPORTS AND RESOURCE HELP IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A GROWING ENVIRONMENT OF HOPE AND ACHIEVEMENT WHILE BUILDING COMMUNITY WITHIN OUR SERVICE AREA.WE MINISTER IN WHAT IS CONSIDERED A FOOD DESERT; VERY FEW LARGE GROCERY STORE OPTIONS.
