WATERSHED: PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAM: NEW JERSEY LCV IMPROVED WATER QUALITY AND PROTECTED CLEAN DRINKING WATER BY BUILDING A SIGNIFICANT DIGITAL PRESENCE ONLINE AND IN SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS EDUCATING AND MOBILIZING THE PUBLIC TO SUPPORT THE WORK OF NGOS WORKING ON THE GROUND TO SAFEGUARD OUR PRECIOUS NATURAL RESOURCES.
CLEAN ENERGY: THE ORGANIZATION WORKS TO ENSURE THAT THE ENVIRONMENT STAYS A TOP PRIORITY IN NEW JERSEY AND TO MAKE OUR STATE A LEADER IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE. IT ACCOMPLISHES THIS GOAL BY HOLDING THE STATE GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABLE FOR FULFILLING ITS COMMITMENTS TO AGGRESSIVELY REDUCE GHG EMISSIONS AND ENSURING ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE AND LOW-INCOME CONCERNS ARE ACCOUNTED FOR AND PRIORITIZED THROUGH PUBLIC EDUCATION AND ACCOUNTABILITY. IT WORKS DIRECTLY WITH TARGETED LEGISLATORS TO BUILD A LARGER COALITION OF CLEAN ENERGY SUPPORTERS IN THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO PUSH LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP TO TAKE BOLD ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE. NEW JERSEY LEAGUE OF CONSERVATION VOTERS CONVENES OTHER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO IDENTIFY AND ADVOCATE FOR SPECIFIC POLICY PROPOSALS AND DEVELOP AND DESIGN COMPREHENSIVE PLANS TO ENSURE THESE POLICIES BECOME LAWS IN THE GARDEN STATE.
FEDERAL CLIMATE GRANT:NEW JERSEY LCV WORKS LOCALLY AND STATE-WIDE TO ENSURE POLICIES AND PROGRAMS COMING OUT OF WASHINGTON, DC PROVIDE A CLEANER AND HEALTHIER ENVIRONMENT FOR NEW JERSEY FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES. WORKING COLLABORATIVELY WITH THREE STATE LEAGUES IN OUR REGIONS WE EDUCATED THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF REDUCING GREENHOUSE GASES AND ADVANCING CLIMATE SOLUTIONS AT THE LOCAL LEVEL, AND WAYS TO ADVANCE POSITIVE HEALTH AND JUSTICE OUTCOMES ACROSS OVERBURDENED COMMUNITIES. OUR PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAM ALSO SUPPORTS IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT (IRA) TO ENSURE NEW JERSEY GETS ITS FAIR SHARE OF FINANCIAL INVESTMENTS FROM THIS IMPORTANT FEDERAL PROGRAM. WE WORK WITH TRUSTED, LOCAL COMMUNITY VOICES THROUGH THE NEW JERSEY PROGRESSIVE EQUITABLE ENERGY COALITION, INCLUDING SMALLER, LOCAL NON-PROFITS, TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT IMPORTANT CLIMATE SOLUTIONS TO PROTECT OUR COMMUNITIES FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.
