GIRLS ROCK CAMPAIGN BOSTON EMPOWERS GIRLS, WOMEN, AND YOUTH AND ADULTS WITH MARGINALIZED GENDER IDENTITIES TO BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES BY BUILDING A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY THAT FOSTERS SELF-EXPRESSION, CONFIDENCE, AND COLLABORATION THROUGH MUSIC EDUCATION AND PERFORMANCE.

Part 3 - Line 4a

GIRLS ROCK BOSTON IS A WEEK LONG SUMMER PROGRAM FOR GIRLS AND YOUTH WITH MARGINALIZED GENDER IDENTITIES AGES 8 TO 17 WORKING TO EMPOWER AND ENCOURAGE POSITIVE SELF ESTEEM THROUGH MUSIC EDUCATION AND PERFORMANCE. DURING EACH SESSION, YOUTH RECEIVE INSTRUMENT INSTRUCTION (GUITAR, BASS, DRUMS, VOCALS OR KEYBOARDS), FORM A BAND, WRITE AN ORIGINAL SONG, AND PERFORM AT A SOLD OUT ROCK VENUE IN JUST ONE WEEK. AS WELL AS BAND FORMATIONS, BAND COACHING, AND BAND PRACTICE- WE INCLUDE WORKSHOPS SUCH AS SELF-DEFENSE, SONGWRITING, WOMEN IN ROCK HISTORY AND SCREEN PRINTING.


DURING LADIES ROCK CAMP BOSTON SESSIONS, WOMEN AND ADULTS WITH MARGINALIZED GENDER IDENTITIES, 21 AND OVER, RECEIVE INSTRUMENT INSTRUCTION,FORM BANDS, WRITE ORIGINAL SONGS AND ATTEND VARIOUS FEMINIST AND MUSIC WORKSHOPS OVER THE COURSE OF THREE DAYS. LRCB IS HELD TWICE ANNUALLY AND PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR GRCB AND WORKS TO BUILD A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY OF ADULTS, MANY WHO SERVE AS FUTURE VOLUNTEERS.


GRCB BEATS IS OUR IN-SCHOOL AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR GIRLS AND YOUTH WITH MARGINALIZED GENDER IDENTITIES IN 3RD-8TH GRADES. DURING BEATS GIRLS ARE ENGAGING IN MUSIC, ART, AND EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS, CREATING MUSIC ELECTRONICALLY AND COLLABORATIVELY WRITING SONGS.
