RESCUE AND ADOPTION OF DOGS AND CATS. TESTING OF CATS FOR FELINE LEUKEMIA AND FIV. DOGS AND CATS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED, VACCINATED AGAINST DISTEMPER FOR CATS, PARVO FOR DOGS, DEWORMED AND TREATMENT OF MEDICAL NEEDS BEFORE ADOPTION.

PET RESCUE AND ADOPTION. AN OLD HOUSE WAS PURCHASED IN LATE 2021 AND DURING 2022 REMODELED AND TURNED INTO A SHELTER FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 CATS. THERE ARE TWO LARGE FREE ROAMING AREAS FOR CATS TO PLAY, CLIMB INTO COZY CONDOS, AND INTERACT WITH THE PUBLIC. THERE IS A QUARANTINE ROOM TO KEEP SICK CATS SEGREGATED AND EIGHT ENCLOSED CONDOS TO HOUSE NEW ARRIVALS AND TEMPORARY STAYS. ADDITIONALLY, IN THE FALL OF 2022, WE RESCUED 54 HOMELESS CATS DURING THE DEVASTATION CAUSED BY HURRICANE IAN IN SOUTH FLORIDA. ACHIEVED WITH THE COORDINATION OF MIAMI ANIMAL SERVICES, THE CATS WERE PLACED IN FOSTER CARE, PROVIDED MEDICAL CARE, VACCINATIONS, ETC., SPAYED, NEUTERED AND ADOPTED. DURING THE YEAR, 478 CATS WERE ADOPTED COMPARED TO 463 IN 2021. THERE WERE 71 DOG ADOPTIONS COMPARED TO 171 IN 2021.
LOW COST SPAY AND NEUTER CERTIFICATES ARE SOLD TO THE PUBLIC AT PARTICIPATING VETERINARIANS WHO AGREE TO LOWER THEIR PRICES IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF UNWANTED PETS. THIS PROGRAM CONNECTS PEOPLE WITH VETERINARIANS WHO SEE THE VALUE OF CREATING A POSITIVE CLIENT RELATIONSHIP AND REDUCING THE OVERPOPULATION OF PETS.
