DURING 2021, WE ACCOMPLISHED THE FOLLOWING: -HOSTED A VIRTUAL LEGISLATIVE KICKOFF -HOSTED A VIRTUAL LGBTQ+ LOBBY DAY IN MARCH WITH OVER 80 PARTICIPANTS WITH APPEARANCES FROM THE LGBTQ CAUCUS, GOVERNOR POLIS, SENATOR BENNET, OUR GSA LEADERSHIP COUNCIL, WORKING FOR THE PEOPLE POLICY DIRECTOR, AND ONE COLORADO WESTERN SLOPE VOLUNTEERS. -ADVOCATED FOR POLICY PRIORITIES WHICH WERE LATER SIGNED INTO LAW, INCLUDING: - HB21-1072 - EQUAL ACCESS SERVICES FOR OUT OF HOME PLACEMENTS - "FOSTER CARE BILL" - PROHIBITING ANY ENTITY THAT RECEIVES STATE FUNDING AND OFFERS ANY SERVICE RELATED TO OUT-OF-HOME PLACEMENTS OF YOUTH, INCLUDING FOSTER CARE OR ADOPTION, FROM DISCRIMINATING AGAINST POTENTIAL ADOPTIVE OR FOSTER PARENTS AND CHILDREN WITHIN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. ADDITIONALLY, THE BILL MANDATES PRE AND POST-PLACEMENT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR FOSTER PARENTS -HB21-1108 - GENDER IDENTITY EXPRESSION ANTI-DISCRIMINATION - LEGISLATION THAT AMENDS THE CURRENT DEFINITION OF SEXUAL ORIENTATION ALONG WITH ADDING THE TERMS GENDER IDENTITY & GENDER EXPRESSION INTO THE 48 AREAS OF STATE LAW THAT PROHIBIT DISCRIMINATION AGAINST MEMBERS OF A PROTECTED CLASS. DURING PRIDE MONTH, 95 ELECTED OFFICIALS SIGNED ONTO A PRIDE LETTER URGING ELECTED ALLIES TO STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH LGBTQ+ COLORADANS.
