THE PURPOSE OF HAWAII FLORICULTURE AND NURSERY ASSOCIATION IS A) TO ENHANCE ITS MEMBERS BUSINESS SUCCESS THROUGH ENACTMENT OF LAWS TO ADVANCE THE COMMON BUSINESS INTEREST OF THE MEMBER EDUCATION, MARKETING, RESEARCH AND SERVICE; B) TO ENCOURAGE AND PROMOTE THE BETTERMENT OF CONDITIONS THAT WILL CREATE AND SUSTAIN AN ECONOMICALLY VIABLE FLOWER AND PLANT INDUSTRY; AND C) TO PROMOTE HAWAII FLOWERS AND PLANTS, BOTH LOCALLY AND FOR EXPORT.

Part 3 - Line 4a

1. A SEMINAR WAS HELD IN SEPTEMBER 2022 TO ALLOW INDUSTRY ASSOCIATES TO LEARN ABOUT BREEDING NEW VARIETIES, PEST MANAGEMENT, ERADICATION AND OTHER IMPORTANT RESEARCH UPDATES FROM RESEARCHERS FROM USDA ARS SKI PBARC, UH MANOA CTAHR AND CTAHR COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SREVICE. THE PRESENTATION WAS DISPLAYED FOR 41 ATTENDEES AND HOUSED ON THE HFNA WEBSITE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.


2. A 3-DAY LIVE EVENT WAS HOSTED IN OCTOBER 2022. THE EVENT INCLUDED TOURS OF 4 ISLAND FLOWER NURSERIES AND A BREEDERS AND GROWERS' FORUM. THERE WERE ALSO HANDS ON WORKSHOPS AND DEMONSTRATIONS FROM 7 DESIGNERS WITH AN ATTENDANCE OF 84 PEOPLE.


3. A WEBINAR WAS PRODUCED AND HOSTED IN NOVEMBER 2022. THE WEBINAR INCLUDED TOURS OF NURSERIES AND FLORAL DESIGN DEMONSTRATIONS FROM 4 CANADIAN DESIGNERS. THE WEBINAR HAD 315 PARTICIPANTS ATTEND LIVE AND 185 PARTICIPANTS REPLAYED THE SESSIONS FOR A TOTAL OUTREACH OF 500 PARTICIPANTS. THIS WAS A GLOBAL EVENT WITH THE MAJORITY OF ATTENDEES FROM THE US, WITH AUDIENCE FROM AUSTRALIA, ANTIGUA, CANADA, BRAZIL, CZECH REPUBLIC, HONG KONG, INDONESIA, MEXICO, NEW ZEALAND, PHILIPPINES, POLAND, PORTUGAL, ROMANIA, SCOTLAND, SINGAPORE, SPAIN, SWITZERLAND, SWEDEN, SOUTH AFRICA AND THE UNITED KINGDOM.
