HERO DOGS IMPROVES QUALITY OF LIFE FOR OUR NATIONS HEROES BY RAISING, TRAINING, AND PLACING SERVICE DOGS AND OTHER HIGHLY SKILLED CANINES, FREE OF CHARGE WITH LIFETIME SUPPORT OF THE PARTNERSHIPS.

DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR, WE PLACED TEN SERVICE DOG TEAMS, SIX FACILITY DOG TEAMS, AND TWO SKILLED HOME COMPANIONS. WE CELEBRATED OUR LARGEST GRADUATION EVER ON JUNE 5TH, 2022. WE CURRENTLY HAVE NINE DOGS IN ADVANCED TRAINING AND 20 DOGS IN THE PUPPY PROGRAM.OUR BREEDING PROGRAM PRODUCED 23 PURPOSE BRED LABRADOR RETRIEVERS. THROUGH THE ASSISTANCE DOGS INTERNATIONAL BREEDING COOPERATIVE (ABC), THESE LITTERS WERE SHARED WITH FIVE OTHER ACCREDITED SERVICE DOG ORGANIZATIONS TO ENSURE GENETIC DIVERSITY AND BALANCE WITHIN OUR DOG TRAINING PROGRAMS. WE ALSO RECEIVED EIGHT ADDITIONAL PUPPIES FROM OTHER SERVICE DOG ORGANIZATIONS AND REPUTABLE BREEDERS DURING THIS PERIOD.
(CONTINUED) WE HAVE CREATED A NEW HYBRID PUPPY TRAINING AND AWARENESS PROGRAM, IN WHICH WE TAKE LITTERS FROM OUR BREEDING PROGRAM TO VISIT WITH LOCAL MILITARY AND FIRST RESPONDERS. THESE VISITS PROVIDE STRONG SOCIALIZATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR PUPPIES AND SELF-CARE OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS OF OUR DESIRED CLIENT POPULATION. THIS GRANT YEAR, WE HAVE VISITED THE UNIFORMED SERVICES UNIVERSITY OF THE HEALTH SCIENCES, THE FBI CRITICAL INCIDENT RESPONSE GROUP, THE METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE LAUREL POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE FREDERICK POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT.
(CONTINUED) HERO DOGS LAUNCHED MONTHLY APPLICANT SPECIFIC ORIENTATIONS. THESE ORIENTATIONS ENABLE POTENTIAL APPLICANTS TO GET HANDS ON ASSISTANCE FROM OUR DIRECTOR OF CLIENT SERVICES IN UNDERSTANDING AND NAVIGATING THE APPLICATION PROCESS AND COMPLETING THE SERVICE DOG APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS.
