BLACK LOVE RESIST IN THE RUST: CLEAN AIR PROVIDES FISCAL SPONSORSHIP TO BLACK LOVE RESISTS IN THE RUST (BLRR.) BLRR WORKS WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO REDEFINE SAFETY AND REIMAGINE SECURITY. IN 2020, OVER 20 COMMUNITY MEMBERS WERE ENGAGED IN BUILDING A COMMUNITY SAFETY ZONE
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, CLEAN AIR ENGAGED OVER 150 PEOPLE IN FUN, ONLINE (DUE TO COVID-19) WORKSHOPS AND TRAINING THAT FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING THE TOOLS IN BASE BUILDING, MEDIA STRATEGY, ECONOMIC ANALYSIS, GRASSROOTS FUNDRAISING, AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE EDUCATION.
ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE: CLEAN AIR IMPROVED COMMUNITY HEALTH IN THE TONAWANDAS AND THE CITY OF BUFFALOS EAST SIDE BY FIGHTING FOR A COMMUNITY ADVISORY GROUP FOR EACH NEIGHBORHOOD, AS WELL AS SUBMITTING A FULL ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT AND THOROUGH TECHNICAL COMMENT TO THE NYS DEC FOR ONGOING SUPERFUN AND BROWNFIELD CLEANUPS AT TONAWANDA COKE. CLEAN AIR ALSO SUPPORTED RESIDENTS IN CREATING A COMMUNITY LAND TRUST WITH A GOAL OF TAKING BACK LAND THAT WAS HOME TO AN ILLEGAL CONCRETE CRUSHING OPERATION IN THE CITY OF BUFFALO THAT HAD DAMAGED COMMUNITY HEALTH AND QUALITY OF LIFE.
JUST TRANSITION: CLEAN AIR ORGANIZED FOR RACIAL EQUITY IN THE SOLAR MANUFACTURING AND RENEWABLE ENERGY SECTOR. CLEAN AIR ALSO CONTINUES TO LEAD A REGIONAL ECONOMIC TRANSITION, IN THE WAKE OF THE HUNTLEY COAL PLANT CLOSURE IN A WAY THAT TAKES CARE OF JOBS, TAX REVENUE AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
