Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
THE CITIZENS CAMPAIGN IS DEDICATED TO REPAIRING OUR DEMOCRACY FROM THE BOTTOM UP BY TRAINING CITIZENS IN NO BLAME POLITICS AND EVIDENCE-BASED PROBLEM SOLVING TOGETHER, THESE CITIZEN LEADERS WILL BE A NEW FORCE EMPOWERED TO CHANGE THE POLITICAL CLIMATE AND INCREASE OUR CAPACITY TO MEET THE NATION'S CHALLENGES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
CITY CIVIC TRUSTS: ONE OF THE MAJOR INITIATIVES OF THE CITIZENS CAMPAIGN IN 2021 INCLUDED ESTABLISHING, MANAGING AND MAINTAINING OUR LOCAL CIVIC TRUSTS. CIVIC TRUSTS ARE ASSOCIATIONS OF RESIDENTS AND OTHER CITY STAKEHOLDERS WHO TAKE A CIVIC PLEDGE TO LEAVE THEIR COMMUNITIES AND COUNTRY BETTER THAN THEY FOUND THEM. WE HAVE CIVIC TRUSTS IN NEWARK, TRENTON, PERTH AMBOY, PATERSON, PLAINFIELD AND PHILADELPHIA. TRUSTEES MEET ON A MONTHLY BASIS TO WORK TOGETHER UTILIZING A NO-BLAME PROCESS TO FIND AND ADVANCE EVIDENCE-BASED, COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR THE ISSUES THEY IDENTIFY AS IMPORTANT FACING THEIR HOMETOWNS AND CITIES. IN 2021, THESE INCLUDED DE-ESCALATION TRAINING, POLICE REFORM AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CITIZEN ADVISORY BOARDS, SOLUTIONS ADDRESSING THE CLIMATE CHANGE CRISIS THAT CAN BE EFFECTIVELY IMPLEMENTED ON A LOCAL LEVEL, AND SOLUTIONS ADDRESSING STUDENT DISABILITIES AND DISCIPLINE ISSUES.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING BASES: WE HAVE BEEN DEVELOPING AND REFINING OUR NO-BLAME PROBLEM SOLVING TRAINING AS AN INDEPENDENT TRAINING COURSE WHICH WE ALSO WANT TO MAKE EASILY AVAILABLE AND ACCESSIBLE TO THE LARGER PUBLIC, ESPECIALLY TO URBAN, ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED, UNDERREPRESENTED MINORITY COMMUNITIES. WE ARE ACCOMPLISHING THIS BY DEVELOPING CITIZEN LEADERSHIP TRAINING BASES AT COMMUNITY COLLEGES, HBCU'S AND TRADITIONAL 4-YEAR COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. THE BASES OFFER TRAINING TO UNDERGRADUATES AND THE GREATER COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE THROUGH THEIR CONTINUING EDUCATION PLATFORMS. CITIZEN LEADERSHIP TRAINING BASES HAVE NOW BEEN ESTABLISHED IN OVER 25 CITIES SPANNING EVERY REGION OF THE COUNTRY.
NATIONAL CITIZEN SERVICE: THE CITIZEN SERVICE GIVES EVERY AMERICAN THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR CREATING A FAIR AND FUNCTIONAL DEMOCRACY BY SIGNING UP FOR POWER TRAINING IN PRACTICAL, NO-BLAME PROBLEM SOLVING OF PUBLIC ISSUES AND CONVERTING THEIR TRAINING INTO PUBLIC SERVICE AS CITIZEN LEADERS. THE SERVICE PROVIDES ACCESS TO OUR MANY RESOURCES, INCLUDING FOR EXAMPLE, OUR LEADERSHIP TRAINING MANUAL CITIZEN POWER PUBLISHED BY RUTGERS UNIVERSITY PRESS; AN ONLINE, CERTIFICATE COURSE IN CITIZEN LEADERSHIP AND NO-BLAME PROBLEM SOLVING; A NATIONAL SOLUTIONS SHARING PLATFORM; AND OUR LAW AND POLICY TASK FORCE OF OVER 50 EXPERIENCED AND ACCOMPLISHED PRACTITIONERS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT WHO VOLUNTEER TO ASSIST CITIZEN PROBLEM SOLVING. THE CITIZEN SERVICE HAS WON THE ENDORSEMENTS AND ACTIVE SUPPORT OF THE NATION'S TOP EXPERTS IN CIVIC ENGAGEMENT.
