Part 3 - Line 4a

COMMUNITY BASED RESEARCH + ACTION PROGRAM: LCHT'S GOAL IN CONDUCTING RESEARCH IS TO CONTRIBUTE DATA-DRIVEN INSIGHTS TO THE BROADER ANTI-TRAFFICKING MOVEMENT AND ADVANCE A COMPREHENSIVE RESPONSE. LCHT FACILITATED THE FIRST OF FOUR VIRTUAL MEETINGS FOR 40 COLORADO BASED ANTI-TRAFFICKING PARTNERSHIP LEADERS TO NETWORK AND GAIN TOOLS FOR ASSISTING THEIR COMMUNITY RESPONSES. WE CONTINUED TO STUDY AND SUBMIT ARTICLES BASED ON OUR LONGITUDINAL STUDY, THE COLORADO PROJECT TO COMPREHENSIVELY COMBAT HUMAN TRAFFICKING.

TRAINING AND EDUCATION PROGRAM: TO DELIVER ANTI-TRAFFICKING TRAINING TO TARGETED PROFESSIONAL GROUPS AND DIVERSE COMMUNITY AUDIENCES ACROSS COLORADO. IN 2020, THE VARIOUS TRAINING PROGRAMS REACHED 5,424 PEOPLE. THESE SERVICES WERE PROVIDED IN 21 COLORADO COUNTIES, ALONG WITH A STATEWIDE HEALTHCARE CONFERENCE, A MULTI-STATE CONFERENCE HOSTED IN COLORADO, A NATIONAL CONFERENCE AND THREE INTERNATIONAL WEBINARS. THE PRIMARY AUDIENCES WERE HEALTHCARE AND CHILD WELFARE WORKERS. WE ARE SEEING GREAT MOMENTUM TO INSTITUTE PROTOCOLS FOR IDENTIFYING AND SERVING VICTIMS. WE PARTNERED WITH TWO LOCAL UNIVERSITIES TO TEACH HUMAN TRAFFICKING CLASSES AND SEMINARS.

HOTLINE AND RESOURCE DIRECTORY: LCHT MANAGES THE 24/7 STATEWIDE COLORADO HUMAN TRAFFICKING HOTLINE AND TEXT LINE. IN 2020 WE ADDED AN ONLINE RESOURCE DIRECTORY. IN MARCH, THE HOTLINE DIRECTORY WAS SELECTED FOR A STATEWIDE PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN PROMOTED BY THE GOVERNOR'S COLORADO HUMAN TRAFFICKING COUNCIL. DURING THIS YEAR WE RESPONDED TO 483 CALL AND 91 TEXTS. THESE WERE COMPOSED AS FOLLOWS: 218 TIPS, 193 REFERRALS AND 72 REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION. WE HIRED ONE ADDITIONAL PROGRAM COORDINATOR TO SUPPORT THE GROWTH OF THE HOTLINE.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: TO PREPARE HUMAN RIGHTS LEADERS AND SURVIVORS WITH THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES NECESSARY TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE ANTI-TRAFFICKING MOVEMENT. LCHT LEADS THREE 10 WEEK TRAINING SESSIONS EACH YEAR. IN 2020, 15 INTERNS WERE SELECTED. THIS BRINGS THE TOTAL NUMBER OF LCHT INTERNS TO 174 SINCE THE PROGRAM BEGAN IN 2005. THE TRAINING WAS CHANGED TO ON-LINE DELIVERY, PER COVID VIRUS RESTRICTIONS AND THIS ALLOWED US TO SUPPORT INTERNS BASED IN CA, WY, CO, TX, PA AND LONDON.

PURPOSE: THIS PROJECT INVOLVES AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO STOP THE DEVASTATION OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING BY TRAINING HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS AND STAFF IN HEALTHCARE SETTINGS. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT MOST TRAFFICKING VICTIMS ARE SEEN AT SOME POINT BY A HEALTHCARE PROVIDER, BUT THESE PROFESSIONALS ARE NOT TRAINED TO INTERVENE. HEALTHCARE CONTACT IS A CRITICAL CHANCE TO STOP TRAFFICKING SITUATIONS AND TREAT SURVIVORS.
