SPONSORED THE ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM. THE 2023 SYMPOSIUM WAS HELD IN NEW ORLEANS, LA DURING MAY OF 2023 AS WELL AS VIRTUALLY. THE SYMPOSIUM PROVIDED A FORUM FOR THE MEMBERSHIP TO OBTAIN UPDATED INFORMATION ON TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS IN LABORATORY HEMATOLOGY. THE SYMPOSIUM WAS A THREE DAY CONFERENCE PRECEDED BY A ONE DAY EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP. PARTICIPANTS INCLUDED APPROXIMATELY 450 PROFESSIONALS FROM APPROXIMATELY 45 COUNTRIES AND INCLUDED MORE THAN 200 PRESENTATIONS.
DEVELOPED AND PRESENTED EDUCATIONAL WEBINARS AND E-LEARNING COURSES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE MEMBERSHIP AS PART OF AN EFFORT TO PROVIDE TIMELY INFORMATION TO THAT MEMBERSHIP CONCERNING DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FIELD OF LABORATORY HEMATOLOGY. EDUCATION NETWORK IS DESIGNED IN PART TO FAMILIARIZE PATHOLOGISTS WITH THE CURRENT DIAGNOSTIC WORKUP OF SYSTEMIC MASTOCYTOSIS (SM) AND TO HELP THEM TO RECOGNIZE THE MORPHOLOGIC FEATURES, CHOSE THE APPROPRIATE ANCILLARY TESTING (E.G., HIGH SENSITIVITY MOLECULAR KIT TESTING, FLOW CYTOMETRIC STUDIES, MYELOID MUTATION TESTING BY NEXT-GENERATION SEQUENCING, ETC.) AND INTEGRATE CLINICAL DATA TO DIAGNOSE AND CLASSIFY SM.
PUBLISHED THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF LABORATORY HEMATOLOGY FOR USE BY MEMBERSHIP AND INTERESTED PARTIES. THE JOURNAL PROVIDES AN INTERNATIONAL FORUM FOR ALL NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN THE RESEARCH AND PRACTICE OF LABORATORY HEMATOLOGY AND INCLUDES INVITED REVIEWS, FULL LENGTH ORIGINAL ARTICLES AND CORRESPONDENCE.
