THE LCLD, INC. IS AN ORGANIZATION OF CORPORATE CHIEF LEGAL OFFICERS AND LAW FIRM MANAGING PARTNERS DEDICATED TO CREATING A LEGAL PROFESSION AS DIVERSE AS THE COUNTRY WE SERVE.

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE AND MEETING HELD TO PROMOTE DIVERSITY IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION. THERE WERE 777 ATTENDEES AT THE VIRTUAL ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING IN 2021.
THE LCLD LAW SCHOOL MENTORING PROGRAM IS A COMPREHENSIVE INITIATIVE FOR FIRST-YEAR LAW STUDENTS FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS TO BE PAIRED WITH VOLUNTEER ATTORNEYS FROM LCLD MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS. IN 2021, 801 MENTOR/MENTEE MATCHES WERE MADE.
THE LCLD FELLOWS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO INCREASE DIVERSITY AT THE LEADERSHIP LEVELS OF THE NATION'S LAW FIRMS AND CORPORATE LEGAL DEPARTMENTS BY IDENTIFYING HIGH-POTENTIAL ATTORNEYS FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS AND PLACING THEM IN THE PATH OF THOSE WHO CAN TEACH THEM TO LEAD THEIR ORGANIZATIONS. EACH FELLOW EMBARKS ON A LEARNING PROGRAM THAT INCLUDES CONFERENCES, VIRTUAL TRAINING ON THE FINE POINTS OF LEGAL PRACTICE, PEER-GROUP PROJECTS TO FOSTER COLLABORATION AND BUILD RELATIONSHIPS, AND EXTENSIVE CONTACT WITH LCLD'S TOP LEADERSHIP ALONG WITH MANAGING PARTNERS AND GENERAL COUNSEL WHO VOLUNTEER TO DISCUSS PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES AND SETBACKS. 426 FELLOWS PARTICIPATED VIRTUALLY IN 2021.
THE LCLD 1L SCHOLARS PROGRAM WAS CREATED TO STRENGTHEN THE LEGAL PIPELINE BY EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR DIVERSE FIRST-YEAR LAW STUDENTS TO SPEND THE SUMMER WORKING SIDE-BY-SIDE WITH ATTORNEYS AT LCLD MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS. IN 2021, THERE WERE 618 1L SCHOLARS. IN 2021, 426 DIVERSE, HIGH-POTENTIAL, EARLY CAREER ATTORNEYS AT LCLD MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS PARTICIPATED IN THE LCLD PATHFINDER PROGRAM. THE GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE PATHFINDERS WITH PRACTICAL TOOLS FOR DEVELOPING AND LEVERAGING INTERNAL PROFESSIONAL NETWORKS THROUGH RELATIONSHIP BUILDING SKILLS, FOUNDATIONAL LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND AN UNDERSTANDING OF CAREER DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES APPLICABLE TO BOTH IN-HOUSE AND LAW FIRM PRACTICE.
