ONE STONE HIGH SCHOOL, AN INDEPENDENT TUITION-FREE SCHOOL, LAUNCHED IN 2016. THE SCHOOL'S THREE-YEAR PROGRAM EMPOWERS STUDENTS TO LEARN AND PRACTICE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY SKILLS THROUGH EXPERIENTIAL SERVICE, INNOVATIVE INITIATIVES AND SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP. STUDENT WORK IS ROOTED IN DESIGN THINKING, A CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING AND INNOVATION DISCOVERY PROCESS. STUDENTS UNCOVER NEW IDEAS THAT ALLOW THEM TO DISRUPT FOR GOOD---IMPROVING THE STATUS QUO FOR LASTING CHANGE. ONE STONE CURRENTLY SERVES 116 STUDENTS.
PROJECT GOOD IS A STUDENT-LED AND -DIRECTED EXPERIENTIAL SERVICE PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR A DIRECT CONNECTION AND BENEFIT TO THE RECIPIENT AND THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE FOR THE ONE STONE STUDENT. PROJECT GOOD TACKLES 15-20 EXPERIENTIAL SERVICE PROJECTS PER YEAR THAT BUILD COMMUNITY AND CHARACTER. PROJECT GOOD'S IMPACT IS PROVEN AND LASTING, BOTH IN THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE AND IN DEVELOPING STUDENT LEADERS WHO ARE CREATING GOOD.
TWO BIRDS IS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE RUN BY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PROVIDING JOB TRAINING AND REAL WORLD OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP CREATIVE STRATEGY AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS. THE SKILLS RANGE FROM GRAPHIC DESIGN, VIDEO AND WEB DESIGN. TWO BIRDS PROVIDES BRANDING AND PROMOTIONAL WORK FOR ONE STONE AS WELL AS OTHER ORGANIZATIONS. THROUGH TWO BIRDS STUDENTS GAIN HANDS-ON MARKETING AND DESIGN EXPERIENCE, SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP, AND TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED TO MANAGE A CREATIVE STUDIO. THE STUDENTS BUILD AN EXTENSIVE PORTFOLIO OF WORK WHILE GAINING REAL WORLD, RELEVANT SKILLS LIKE CLIENT COMMUNICATION, ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT, BUDGETING, AND NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT. STUDENTS ARE MENTORED BY PROFESSIONALS IN THE FIELD.
