THE JAZZ EDUCATION NETWORK IS DEDICATED TO BUILDING THE JAZZ ARTS COMMUNITY BY ADVANCING EDUCATION, PROMOTING PERFORMANCE, AND DEVELOPING NEW AUDIENCES.

COVID-19 FORCED CHANGES IN OUR ORGANIZATION THAT CHANGED THE TRAJECTORY OF OUR FUTURE IN A POSITIVE PATH. THE JAZZ EDUCATION NETWORK (JEN) QUICKLY PIVOTED TO PRODUCING ONLINE EVENTS EVERY MONTH TO SERVE OUR MEMBERS AND THE JAZZ COMMUNITY WITH RELEVANT SOLUTIONS AND RESOURCES FOR LEARNING HOW TO TEACH AND PERFORM WHILE SHELTERED AT HOME. ALTHOUGH IT HAD A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON OUR BUDGET DUE TO THE CANCELLATION OF OUR IN-PERSON CONFERENCE, WE WERE ABLE TO PRODUCE A FOUR-DAY ONLINE CONFERENCE DESPITE THE CHALLENGES. OUR RECORDED WEBINARS AND ONLINE EVENTS HAVE BEEN VIEWED MORE THAN 80,000 TIMES, EXPANDING OUR REACH MORE THAN EVER BEFORE. GOING FORWARD, WE ARE GRATEFUL TO RETURN TO IN-PERSON BUT CONTINUE TO SERVE ONLINE YEAR ROUND.
SISTERS IN JAZZ COLLEGIATE COMBO COMPETITION IN AN EFFORT TO SUPPORT JEN'S OVERALL COMMITMENT TO REPRESENT AND CULTIVATE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION IN JAZZ, THE JAZZ EDUCATION NETWORK (JEN) WOMEN IN JAZZ COMMITTEE HAS RE-ESTABLISHED THE SISTERS IN JAZZ COLLEGIATE COMBO COMPETITION. THROUGH THIS EXEMPLARY PROGRAM, FULL-TIME UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IDENTIFYING AS YOUNG WOMEN OR NON-BINARY JAZZ ARTISTS AGES 18-29 AUDITION TO PERFORM IN THE SISTERS IN JAZZ QUINTET AT THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE. AWARDED: TRAVEL/LODGING/300 PER DIEM FOR 6 DAYS REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE. SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION. DOLLAR AMOUNTS LISTED AT THIS SITE, PLUS UP TO 1500 IN TRAVEL STIPENDS PER RECIPIENT TO ATTEND THE CONFERENCE.
